Audi A4 Factory Bluetooth With RNS-E

Recommended Posts

I’m just about to order a new A4 and I was wondering if anybody on here has an A4 with the factory Bluetooth phone prep with the RNS-E?

I’d like to know if it is any good and if anybody knows which Bluetooth mobiles it works with.

The dealer I’m buying the car from doesn’t know a lot about it and they don’t have demonstrator with it fitted for me to mess around with.

I have one, and it's fantastic (came free with the car). I use it with both a Sony Ericsson T610 & T630.

I believe that the interface is not as comprehensive as on the A6 (as that seems to be able to display text messages etc.)

Uploads my phonebook, and I can use the thumbwheel on the steering wheel to select contacts (the voice recognition seems a little tricky)

I have a 2005.5 A4 2.0 with Navsat MMI, etc.... and was told by the dealership I bought it from that the A4 isn't equipped w/ the bluetooth phone option, only the A6???? I do have the available buttons, however when I power on my phone (Treo 650) w/ bluetooth on it doesn't discover the car's phone integration. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time concerning this matter.

your car will be RNS-E not MMI, although all the RNS and MMI systems show the MMI logo at startup, so confusing. The new A6 and A8 MMI do have BT and phone preps available, but use totally different (MOST) technology to connect together.

A3, A4 and older A6's use canbus and support the RNS-E units for navigation.

the BT kit I have works with all 3 and can be retrofitted into your car to give you bluetooth.
