Have to disagree...a bit.

Some cars have seats that sort of bounce like they have suspension. My TT had this and headrest pillars can make for more movement than required.

I've used one of these window suction mounts for about 4-5 years :

plus I use this if I'm in a car with roll bars e.g. Caterhams

The weight of a typical camcorder doesn't help, and tape drives don't really like being subjected to mid-frequency vibrations, so I bought a bullet cam, although I never knew if it would work with a suction mount. I guess I should just pony up and buy one, and try it. The camcorder can then be located somewhere where it won't get so much vibration, and is well out of the way of any damage.
