danidge
Am after an S3 and have found a V regestered (1999) at an Audi dealership for £12,000. It has done 53,000 miles - has electric seats but no Bose. Can you please tell me if this is roughly the right price Cheers
Wallachie
That seems a pretty fair price from an Audi dealer. The benefit of the slight price premium is the dealer will give you a years warranty with the car, which for the sake of £1,000 or £1,500 over the price on a private car is worth it for peace of mind alone! Go for it mate - you'll not be disappointed!
danidge
Thanks, This is obviously a 210bhp model on a V reg and was wondering how easily, and costly, it would be to upgrade it to the 225bhp through Audi. Also would it be a simple swap to put the 9 spoke 18" alloys on ??
Simonl
9 spokes, do it. ECU map to 225, hardly worth it. AMD map it to around 260hp... if you're going to mod it, you might as well do that.
danidge
Can you give me a rough price for this - also will Audi do the work and do you think it will void the warranty ??
Wallachie
Audi will not do the work, and if you remap it to 260bhp or whatever and a fault appears on the car which is attributed to the remapping - Audi will not cover the cost. Get AMD to do it, costs approx. £600. I just had my S3 (which is remapped)in to Audi to get a problem fixed, which turned out to be something to do with the turbo hoses/vacuum pipes, or something. This might well have been associated with the extra power, but Audi didn't question it and it was sorted under warranty. It's all down to whether you want to take the risk or not. Simonl
Most of the time the garage might just do the warranty work. After all, they just bill Audi UK and get paid anyway!
danidge
Interesting - thanks alot guys
Hopsta
Welcome Danidge to TSN Like the others have said, get a remap done and in theory this will affect your warranty with parts attributed to the increase in power, but this is stealer dependant. Where are you based? Graham
danidge
Thanks, am based in Colchester in Essex - from the experience of people who have had the remap to 260bhp does this generally cause any reliability problems or the need to uprate any other parts ?
Wallachie
No, my car is totally standard other than the remap. I think some people would recommend upgrading the turbo hoses though.
danidge
With regard to the wheels - I asked Audi how much the 9 spoke 18" were and they are £2,500 with tyres !!! does anyone know if the copies suuplied by Rochford tyres are identical and would a set of 19's go on without any problems ?
Simonl
Why go 19"s, they'll look oversized for the car and the ride will suffer. 18's do the job well and to an unsuspecting buyer will look OEM.

Chav
[ QUOTE ] ok cheers, anyone seen a set of the replicas - can it be noticed that they are not the real deal !? [/ QUOTE ] See this thread also, mate replica wheels comparison linky The wheels themselves all looked exactly the same as OEM. (My original 9-spoke 18" OEM wheels were £2000+) Only the centrecaps may not look quite as good... but with a bit of tinkering, OEM centre caps can be massaged to fit quite a few replica styles
