pomme
Okay, i was having a bit of hesitation problems so phoned AMD and asked about whether they knew if the car had had the 6463 vw update, as the car has the stage 2. They wernt sure, but suggested i take it to the local dealers and put on Vagcom. Which i did and the dealer said it needed to have the update. So i said ill take it now and book it in later in the month. Then i booked into AMD to have the VW update and then the stage 2, plus some other bits . The car is amazing now with no hesitation . But the problem is that the leather on the drivers seat is tearing so is a warrenty issue. So i took this into dealers today to get it booked in for them to change it under warranty. They said they would book it in, but not under warranty as this was now viod as i had had the Ecu chipped. To which i said how can having the Ecu chipped affect the warrenty of the seats To which they said that the car warrenty is all one, so if you change one thing it affects all warranties. So i have come away bloody pissed off. As i have only had the car 3 months or so, so should be under normal warrenty as the car had already had the stage 2 when i got it. And under manufacturing warranty as its a march 04 plate. As the local dealers are all connected, ie. one company, for a 2 hour drive what would you siggest be my course of action? Ask to speak to manager, call VW UK???? Andrew
helfinger
The seats in the r32 only have a 6 month warranty from new. I know cus i tried to get a new seat.......even my m8 could not push it through That is bull it will only effect the warrenty on parts that are directly connect with the parts you have changed. i would call VW and see what they say, but don't get your hopes up... How the hell can chipping your car make you seats Tare! ... i guess they will say you will be driving the car more as its vastly improved over the std r32 performance Good Luck.... Woppum
My car is an import. I have a 2 year warranty. My warranty ran out two weeks ago. 2 months before that I had the same problem with my drivers seat (there is a post somewhere on here I think). It was done under warranty, but would have cost well over £800 if it was not due to the amount of man hours needed to put new leather on the seat! So it depends on the dealer. The dealer I used was in Headington Oxford, they were very good. I'd have a shop about.
pomme
Spoke to VW UK the other day, and they basically said the dealer was speaking bull and they would call them and put them straight. And that as i got the car with the amd stage 2 on it and told the warranty would stand, they have said they would honour it . As to the seats the first guy i spoke to, said that as far as he knew the seats were covered for the 3 years. So mine are now booked into the stealers to get done on friday . Helfinger it may be worth asking you dealer if they can get it done but put it through as something else, ie defect not sagging etc. Which is what my dealer agredd to after convincing them what VW UK had said.
