aarona3dsg
As I walked to back to my A3 this afternoon I was just in time to see a can of coke that was sitting in the cup holder explode! Must have left the car in the sun for too long. Unfortunately a considerable amount seemed to end up inside the radio/cd player which surprisingly no longer works At first it would switch on and display "safe" but now just the display backlight comes on and that's it. I have the Bose speaker system fitted but am I right in assuming the head unit is the same regardless. Any ideas how much a replacement is likely to cost? Cheers
Chillihead
It is indeed, ,could I suggest speaking with store/supplier of exploding Coke. You never know and a concert head unit is £600 ish. Try returning it under warranty?

cdb2
In an accessories brochure I had it gave 2 prices for the Concert, one for brand new and one for re-conditioned, implying you could trade yours in as an exchange unit.
danidge
I am looking to buy an S3 from a dealer and it doesn't have the BOSE system fitted - I asked them how much and if it would be possible to fit the BOSE and they said that it was not possible. I find this hard to believe - are they just trying to get ot of a job !!???
Simonl
I find it hard to believe, but it's not the first time i've heard this! Maybe you can buy a system off ebay and retro fit.
danidge
I have a system worth a couple of thousand in my current car but didn't really want to have all the hassle of instaling and didn't really want to start taking the S3 appart - will try Audi again as I'm sure it can be done by them
Hopsta
I've heard quite a few times over the years that the BOSE cannot be retrofitted, no idea why though. Let us know how you get on
Drinks
I'm sure Aaronuk will be along in a bit to back me up on this but I'm positive Bose can't be retrofitted. Bose was specced by him on his A3 and missed off the order list by the dealership. Aaron then got to drive round in this new A3 which he rejected whilst another a3 with Bose was being built. Can't see the dealer letting him have another new car if bose could be retrofitted.

aarona3dsg
The following quotes are taken from the Bose web site: Can I buy a Bose sound-system and retrofit it in my current vehicle? Answer - Retrofitting does not comply with the principle that every Bose sound-system is custom-designed for the interior of the specific vehicle type. All Bose sound-systems are developed in close cooperation with the car manufacturer so that they can be integrated into the assembly process. This is the only way to ensure proper music reproduction and maximum listening pleasure. It is also not economical to retrofit a Bose sound-system from authorised dealer parts. AND I know I can order Bose sound ex factory for my vehicle. Is it possible to order Bose parts for my vehicle from an authorised dealer and have them installed into my car? Answer : Although this is possible, we don't recommend it. Due to their complexity, Bose car hi-fi systems are basically designed for factory fitting. This is the only way to guarantee the superb level of sound quality required to satisfy our customers' high expectations. Regarding my original post, Audi have quoted £650 for a replacement If you want me, I'll be on e-bay!
