Melchior
My first Gti was unable to be delivered to me back in May due to a DSG gearbox fault . In the end I decided to re-order the car in exactly the same spec as the original order. Tomorrow is the day I am collecting the replacement car. This time tomorrow I should be the proud owner of a fault free (hopefully) 5DR Laser Blue DSG with rear side airbags, winter pack, parking sensors, RCD500 + soundpack, cruise control and armrest. Melchior
Just a quick update. Picked up the car earlier today. Currently the total mileage is 122 miles and the mpg for my one journey was 36.7 (I'm taking it easy at the moment). The car is fantastic. Haven't had the same 'feel good' factor with a car for a long while. DSG gearbox is superb. First time I have heard the soundpack and am loving it. Number of niggles = 0. Melchior = Happy Bunny PS. Before you ask. Pics taken but I won't be in a position to upload them for a couple of days.

CRJ_1
Nice colour Melchior, sweet & 38 MPG, enjoy! Is that a similar colour the MKII/III GTI, I think it was the one with the deep bumpers??? Cheers

RedRobin
He's doing what Captain Sensible advised and running her in. Don't worry, when Captain Sensible eventually gets out just do a runner! Why is it that EVERY colour looks great on this GTI!!

WhiteHArtMart
Looks great mate. Given me a few more headaches now - another colour I really like - plus debating between 3 and 5 doors!! Will the decisions never end??
RedRobin
Hi WhiteHart....And even when you have made your colour decision you'll keep asking yourself if it was the right choice - EVERY time you see a different colour!! This happened to me....until I saw her yesterday in prep and looking better in the 'flesh' than I could ever have imagined! (oh dear, I do sound a sad git!!). 3 or 5 doors?....My 14yo daughter Sky (am a single parent and she's the woman of the house - and already wants a Beetle convertible!) made the decision....My BMW was a 2 door and my temporary Golf Mk4 a 5 door....I fancied the 3 door GTI but Sky pointed out how useful the 5 was....Not only for filling the car with teenage girls but for ease of loading and unloading my sound gear and/or other stuff for long journeys. But only you can make the right decision for you.
WhiteHArtMart
Think I'll end up with 3 dr tbh. My son is only 1 so as long as the access is pretty good there should be no probs lifting him in and out! The wife seems to manage in her 206 GTI (which she'll be changing to a 5 door anyway!). Right - back to the brochure!!!
Melchior
Thanks for all your replies!! The Dealer is Trust Volkswagen in Stafford. A Lot of people who have seen the car have remarked on how well the colour works. I don't anticipate that the 38MPG will last, it's been achieved as I'm taken it easy for a few thousand miles, mainly motorway miles with the cruise control set to 70. Nice to know that it can achieve these sorts of figures. I was luck to see 30MPG in my last car, a Passat V6 4Motion.
redbaron
Thanks for the photos Melchior. Couldn't decide between Laser blue or Shadow blue, but after seeing those photos I am definitely going for Laser blue. Ta.
