Window configuration

Until recently I've only ever used all up or all down when cruising topless. I've now found that fronts up, rears down is a top option.

The major advantage is that it stops the annoying clatter of the side windows when driving over poor surfaces.

Other benefits are it doesn't seem to make any difference to the wind blast and I think it looks better that way when using the wind deflector.

Try it (if you haven't already)

If I have the top down and windows up , I always have them all up, I personally think it looks odd just having the rear ones down and sort of ruins the look. Surely having the rear windows up will reduce the amount of wind getting into the back etc (for those without a deflector), I might try it though.

Having said that I have lost count of how many BMW cabs I have seen with the front windows down and the rear ones up grin.gif

I don't get any clatter when the roof is down, regardless of which windows are up.

The only thing that really pisses me off, is the window squeeking when the roof and windows are up sportifs2.gif

Grrr. Can minimise it by cleaning the gap in the roof as much as possible, but it still rears its ugly head every now and again!

My favourite combo at the mo, is roof down and windows down but deflector up. Gives a lovely breeze without giving you earache on a long journey! 169144-ok.gif

I find my 3L very rattle free. It clatters a bit over big bumps - but not the windows. I'm sure the tracking is OK - got similar torque steer off the TDI with the same 18" wheels...

He, he.... I love the torque steer.

Its quite funny over country lanes to get here too... if i've not careful i always wheelspin all the way up the driveway jump.gif

I used the deflector up, windows down for the first half of the journey home tonight. Works good 169144-ok.gif

Always a bit of a toss up for me wether to have the deflector up or down, as the first half of my journey is lanes, then the second dual carriageway. Deflector down is nicer for the lanes but can get tedious at speed unless roasting.

The key advantage of the fronts up, rears down is getting rid of the clatter. I'd agree it suits deflector up better than deflector down.

Cheers

Are you meaning for the clatter? I don't think I'll ask the dealer to look at that. All three have done it to differing degrees and I'm not convinced about having the dealer adjust the window guides and keep the car water tight.

Yes I do need to book it in for the one rear that won't drop properly.
