hey thats exactly the same as me. No auto dimming door mirrors.

He ordered Lux pack 1 instead of 2 by accident and charged me for Lux pack 2.

Interestingly though, he punched Lux pack 2 into the system when I ordered it originally, he told me it just came with Lux pack 1, now they are having to refund me the difference which turns out to be only £75 , would of much prefered the auto dimming mirrors.

Would be interested to find out if you can retro fit them , bet it would cost more than £75 though.

VW customer service say that the dimming option can be etro fitted although it is quite expensive to do, however that is not my problem, the dealer should have spotted the mistake at the PDI and they are responsible for the specification to be correct on the car prior to its delivery to the customer. VW customer service say ices_blah.gif that the dealer should fit the dimming door mirrors as they have made a mistake....the sga continues... ices_blah.gifices_blah.gifices_blah.gif

[ QUOTE ]

Matbell 67,

If they refuse to sort it out and you have the car on VW Finance you could threaten to hand the car back and stop your payments. That may make them think about it more seriously. Probably the last straw but may be worth a mention.

Cheers

I phoned VW Customer Care, firstly how rude are they !

I explained the situation , she just kept repeating the same question ,speak to your dealer , speak to your dealer, in a monotone voice even over me at times.

I was trying to explain I have spoke to my dealer and their answer was to give me a £75 cheque but which I wasn't happy with. In the end she said to just raise it up through the dealership as VW had no responsibilty to the contract between myself and the dealer, it depends on the terms we agreed.

Now I have found out they can be retro fitted it gives me some ground to negotiate with , I always have the option of refusing the car as well. Lets hope it doesn't come to that.

From what you tell us, it is the Dealer's responsibility to correct the matter....It is their error and not VW UK. Unfortunately the real situation is this:

Authorised VW dealerships are just private and everyday car dealers who have met the standards that VW have set to qualify as Authorised Dealers and in return for selling VW vehicles they get smart new premises and flashy showrooms all badged up so the average Jo believes he is walking into VW itself. It's successful corporate packaging....I know, I used to be a successful designer specialising in Corporate Identity and all its manifestations.

However, strip off the outer packaging and you see what/who you are REALLY dealing with....A commercial car sales outfit which doesn't want to lose money even if it's their fault!

Refusing the car would usually be a very effective lever but....How many guys 'n gals are out there panting for an opportunity to snap up a new GTI without the long wait? No problem at all for the dealer to sell your ordered car.

I would investigate legal action (Citizens Advice Bureau is free and better than you might imagine, and most LegalEagles will give you the first half-hour free in which you can establish IF you have a case - TAKE YOUR WRITTEN CONTRACT WITH YOU). Rather than phoning Customer Care I would WRITE to VW UK calmly and objectively....No authorised dealer wants to upset VW and risk losing their appointment and flashy showroom etc.

It's important to stay calm (not that you aren't!) and convince them you mean to take it as far as you need to get results without being threatening (at this stage!)....You get more with honey than with vinegar!

I hope this helps and I am very sorry to hear this has happened.

No very sensible advise thanks RedRobin this helps alot and TBH I was a bit wound up , I should never phone in the morning, I am just not a morning person.

I am awaiting a call back from the salesman at the dealership and I am going to throw the ball back into their court (dipped in honey) and hopefully they will take responsibilty of the problem before I have to suicide.gif

Thanks again

yes happy now, TBH my dealer has been really good , if you stay quiet they do nothing but as soon as you open your mouth even a little they jump to it straight away.

So yes I believe it to be they realised I wasn't just going to ignore it.

Thanks for your advise

Surely its not a matter of cost as far as the consumer is concerned, I just kept repeating that I want the car I ordered and they are contractually obliged to deliver what I paid for, ever so politely of course.

Having said that my stealer haven't agreed to do it for me yet, I will find out today if they have agreed. More than likely I will get the same response as you , too expensive to retro fit, but I will expect them to pay regardless.

I always have the option of refusing the car (absolute last resort) as leverage.

£90 hmmm is that worth it ?

Not for me , but what can we do except refuse the car. Not really a good option !!!

I am going to try and push for some accessories I was going to go for the £75 refund plus the Coat hanger thing for the back of the chair and a rear sun visor security thing, what ever they are called. I think that's £75 + £25 + £50.
