cabby
I used the above last night for the first time following a wash with gold class car wash. I applied with the pad and waited for it to dry to a haze (15-20 mins). The car wasn't in sunlight as this was around 7:30pm. Should this product be seriously hard to remove ? A major amount of elbow grease was needed to remove and in large flat areas like the bonnet and boot it wasn't possible to completely remove and stain type marks were left. Did I do something wrong or is it always this much aggro. ?
AntW
15-20 mins seems like a long time for it to haze? maybe you were putting too much on. I use the same combination and when waxing I do a panel or door at a time, by the time I have waxed a panel the first part is hazed and gets buffed off. The only time I have had difficulty removing it is when I used too much
Andy_PC
Strange - usually wipes straight on, wait 15 minutes then buff off with little effort. Did you use a foam pad and was the paint prepped beforehand? I've found that most sealants are noticeably easier to apply/remove over smooth paint (ie clayed &/or polished) NXT usually goes off almost immediately
whimsical_chris
Yup have found if you put too much stuff on and it doesnt dry it can be tough, but if you put a fine layer on and it hazes up, then its a doddle !
CarMad
Yikes, I have used loads of different waxes and NXT has to be about the easiers to remove of any of them. As others have said I think you have used way too much. You really only need a very small amount enough to smear it really, not to greated a thick film. You should then be able to get it off very easily and the results are fantastic.
cabby
Sounds like my problems were due to a combination of too much product and leaving it on too long. I've been using Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine which is soooo easy to remove but fancied a change. Thanks for the advice as always! May try using a cloth instead of the pad next time as this just acts like a sponge and may be the cause of the over-applicaiton.
Chillihead
Does it leave white marks on trim?
NeilB
Yup it does, so you have to watch it when you get near the black trim.
Johnnyopolis
I think at that time of night it may be a moisture thing... Did you find it was really hard to remove on the bonnet and the roof? Was the sides ok? If it was the whole car your were having problems with I would say you may have used too much product, but if it was just the bonnet and roof its probably the moisture in the air at that time of night.... FiveStar
[ QUOTE ] Sounds like my problems were due to a combination of too much product and leaving it on too long. I've been using Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine which is soooo easy to remove but fancied a change. [/ QUOTE ] As long as you get it on thin enough, it won't matter how long you leave it on, 15mins or 60mins, it should still wipe off easy. As Johnny said, doing it at 7.30pm at this time of year is always gonna put you at risk of moisture problems, once there's moisture in the air and on the surface of the car, you'll be fighting a losing battle. Funny you should think Ultra Deep Shine is easy to wipe off, I found that stuff terrible and chucked it in the bin after a couple of attempts with it. Chillihead
Just finished cleaning, I have to say that the finish and ease of use was great. Very shiny. One coat of NXT, one Turtle Wax Gloss Guard, then another NXT. Does look better than with UDS. Only sad thing is that I used Turtle Wax scratch paste on a gash (small diagonal abrasion)left by a jet was hose. Grrrr. Now that area is dull in comparison. Should I leave it to the experts and have just that one panel OS wing, machine cut?
runflat
I use NXT religiously, mainly for its ease of application. On prepared paint (ie smooth & dry) I can do the whole car in 20 mins easy. And I have found no benefit from applying more than one very thin layer either....so no point putting on two layers, with gloss guard in between (in my experience)
Chillihead
Cool, thanks for the advice. I no longer have access to a drive, live in town now. I will give it a go.
cossie604
Ive always used Autoglym's polishes...until a few wks ago where I felt like a change so I tried NXT but found it made my car smeary in some lights. Tried different methods of applying it but still couldnt get it right. Asked a few questions on another site I use and it seems that some products react with different makes as some other Autoglym users have also had the same trouble with NXT. It now sit's at the back of my shelf in garage, behind another new bottle of Autoglym Super Resin (found Ultra Deep Shine to be too chalky) along with a bottle of Extra Gloss...and at the back it can stay lol
Chillihead
I am impressed, washed car yesterday. NXT rocks, still beading and oh so shiny. I live in Scotland and winter has come early, one more application and that will be me done for the winter. I hate a salt encrusted car but that is theway it is. Roll on snow. I want to play with the Quattro.
