Avus_Bub
Just got back from Bristol. Some of you may remember my post when my summons came HERE It just goes to show the I'm very sorry 'tail between your legs' approach cut no mustard with the hard faced b**ch of a magistrate I faced today. I had a great mitigation speech and a letter from the boss too. Some of you said to get a Brief and in hindsight I think it would've been a good idea. Well my worst fears (and then some) were realised this morning........... £255 fine and a Fecking 56 DAY ban! The Feckers got my hopes up a little too, they kept me waiting for 10 mins before coming out with it. That was for 113 mph on the Bristol stretch of the M4 in March. Anyone got an idea of what my insurance will rape me for after this? I did have a clean licence and 9 years no claims. That's me fecked for driving in Florida in next month. The bike will be wrapped up in cotton wool later and I guess I'll have the cleanest A4 in the UK after two months of polishing..................... malagus
ooohhh. unlucky bub. not a nice thing, but not too bad for the crime, though given your previous clean record, I thought 30 day ban would have been max. bad luck I guess.
Wallachie
Sorry to hear that mate, but to be fair your were caught at a fair old speed! I would have expected a months ban to be sufficient. Look on the bright side though - you won't have any points on your license!! I'm sure your insurers will be cashing in now!
Gren
Have read on Pistonheads more than once that coming back from a ban does not automatically mean a huge rise in premiums - guess it all comes down to the individual insurer. Admiral charged me £175 for my first 3 points!!!
Milo
Sorry to hear the news Bub. A 56 day ban on a previously clean licence does seem harsh I think you may well have to do a fair bit ringing around come renewal time.

NewNiceMrMe
Jesus, I'm sorry to hear that Bob. I recall the fact that a few commented that the speed being in excess of 110 might lead to more than a few weeks ban - but you have my genuine sympathy. I could have been caught at that speed on many an occasion (conditions permitting) and count myself lucky. Hope the days pass swiftly.

loafer27
Ouch thats a big hit i remember getting 7 points and a 350 pound fine for 97mph many years ago (about 9 yrs actually) i must also admit to keeping loud pedal depressed sometimes for a little longer than necessary when overtaking on mways its very easy to go a lot faster than u realise in these instances . Ari
Yeah, bad luck AB. I'm sure there are plenty here who could easily be in your position at one time or another. Surprised about a ban meaning zero points/clean slate though, I thought you got the points too?
Milo
Is it not just logged on your licence as a code but with no points against it? You still have to declare it to your insurers but hopefully it won't be too harsh
bazza_g
sorry to hear the news dude - its got me wondering where do they make up these figures from ? How to they come to a 56 days and £255 ? Why not £250 ?
Avus_Bub
Thanks for all the replies guys UBM - It was the A4 (easy) [ QUOTE ] How to they come to a 56 days and £255 ? Why not £250 ? [/ QUOTE ] Bazza - £35 'costs' 56days = 8 weeks Point is, I've posted just to show you guys that it really is a lottery. To be honest I just can't believe I got a two month ban. I was thinking 28 days tops. Part of my mitigation was my 'Fly Drive' in Sept I said my wife was very worried and concerned about driving in the USA. The B***h had the cheek to ask me when my holiday was before fecking it up. NICE The Mrs nearly burst into tears I'll take a little comfort knowing it still could've been worse.......... How does six months sound? Remember kids .......... SPEED KILLS BUB
garcon magnifique
SPEED KILLS - or at least ****s up your plans for a few weeks. Unlucky Avus, I guess you just have to bend over and take it. sidicks
Don't want to say I told you so, but it looks as though you got a pretty similar treatment to me for my similar offence 5 years ago. The good news is that although some insurance companies will hike your premium (or refuse to insure you) Liverpool Victoria 'ignore' your first speeding offfence (effectively treat it as the same as 3-points), so my premium was relatively unaffected. Hope you get over the shock soon. Sidicks

Scotty
About 7 years ago I got down for 118mph on the M11. I got a £250 fine (similar to above) but my ban was 25 days. 56 days is quite an increase.
