pauls1980
Why does the r32 engine appear to go silent for a few milliseconds when I rev it up? I was having a look at my soon to be new car last week and when I revved her rather than a continuous sound there was a slight pause, then she growled. I think she may have been due a service but I'm buying from the stealers so they should sort it out for me. Is that how it should be? Mechanics were present and they said nothing (VW Mechanics) I don't know...

pauls1980
Imagine the engine purring away as normal, then when you touch the throttle, the engine "cuts out" then you hear it rev. It reminded me of the sound my first car made when it was mis-firing, but I thought that it couldn't possibly be mis-firing could it??
helfinger
i'm sure that is normal, its when the car sucks the air in, i really don't think it is anything to worry about.....but i could be wrong....i will try on my car and let you know.... dazr32
hiya paul check back through previous posts as somebody has brought this up before and apparently we do not have a cable on the throttle it is (drive by wire) and apparently the split second pause is down to the difference in time it takes the ecu to respond to your input on the loud button. FiftyPence
Its wicked having DBW rather than the usual throttle cable because it means you dont get any squeak or spinginess i find.
dazr32
i find just push it and hold on tight and make sure there is nothing in front of you.
