loddrik
Saw one of these today and it looked absolutely superb! It was in a white/mother of pearl effect paint colour, all I can say is that they look much, much better in the metal than they do in pics. RossG
Seen a couple kicking about recently and I really like them. The interior, whilst being very 'Italian' in style is also really very classy. I think this car is a good alternative to a used R32. Sure, it's only front wheel drive, and it has to live with the Alfa effect regarding dealer and myths about reliability (the R is hardly a reliabilty yardstick though, judging by some people's luck on here), it is a very very classy car. Like them. This month's CAR magazine has one as part of its Golf GTI/Astra VXR test. Not had a chance to read it yet - but am looking forward to seein how the Alfa copes
Insurance Jon
If I had one it would be in red or white. Got to be second hand if it's white though, let someone else lose the money
JamesB
I've tested both the 147 and 156 GTA and they're good fun to drive, esp the 147, and I think they're both pretty cars However, I found them both a little uncomfortable after a while in the saddle which put me off a bit. I'm not sure if the reliability thing is a myth or not - I do know that my company took Alfas off the company car scheme a couple of years ago as they had so many problems. things may have improved since then - anyone remember what JD Power has to say? NeilB
Alfa is 4th from bottom in the customer satisfaction survey, and short of the idustry standard. Although they said "they showed improvement since 2004"
jimdiesel
I had a 3.0L 166 with 226bhp, as opposed to 250bhp in the GTA's. The engine was sublime but it ate a set of front tyres every 4500 miles.

NeilB
From what I've heard they tend to suffer from grip problems and the higher end engines suffer from chronic torque steer a-la VXR Astra.
JamesB
Yes, grip was definitely less than confidence-inspiring but, then again, I believe you should explore a car's limits on a test drive. And yes, there is a torque steer - but I used to drive a Fiat Coupe 20V turbo so my point of reference is slightly adjusted

The daily running costs were huge though. My S4 was far cheeper to run. The most noticable aspect though was the reaction of other people, they loved it. Especially females. v15ben
There are plenty of 147GTAs around out here. They look nice and sound sublime with a little bit of exhaust tweaking I reckon! There was a 3.7 GSR version on the Cannonball rally last year as well - now that really was an awesome proposition!
MattR32
Not seen many buit the ones I have seen look very plasticky (as does the 156GTA). Lovely interior and the engine is a belter though.

NeilB
Today I saw a 147 and a chaved/modded 206 in the carpark, and the women were paying more attention to the 206 rather then the Alfa! WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO!
