BFC
Hi Just purchased a 02 Passat and are having problems with the central locking. On the first press of the button the drivers door opens as expected (like my Audi Allroad) but when I press the button a second time to open the other doors nothing happens. The door knobs move a little but don't rise up and open the other doors or indeed the boot. I have to open the car with the first press and release the other doors by pressing the unlock button on the inside of the door. I have tried holding button for 1 second then opening / closing the door to reprogramme as per the manual to no effect. All opens normally if I use the key and turn twice in the lock. Any help appreciated!!??
felixthecat1
I assume it locks all the doors okay, does it? First place to try is always the fuse box but if the plungers move slightly it points to a mechanical problem. Unfortunately this happened to me twice and I had to get the faulty lock replaced by the stealer. You may have more luck though
BFC
Hi yes it locks OK would assume as all the plunges move that it would be unlikely that all 3 incl boot lock mechanisms are faulty. Where would I find the fuse? many thanks
Mook
One fuse works all of the central locking. It sounds like it could be a dodgy solenoid or even a broken wire? If you've just bought it from a main dealer, take it back and get them to fix it under warranty. If it's not from a main dealer, but another dealer, take it back and ask them to fix it. Open the drivers door and it's on the side of the dash where the door comes to rest, just to the right of the headlight switches.

mulkbear
I say this every time. 1. is the n/s/f carpets wet or damp ? 2. Has the car a water ingress in the past ? (if the fuse had blown the windows will not work)
BFC
NOT BOUGHT FROM A DEALER, BOUGHT PRIVATE. Where can I find the sloenoid that may be broken? Should I get a auto electrician to sort and fix or does it have to be VW!!??
Mook
[ QUOTE ] NOT BOUGHT FROM A DEALER, BOUGHT PRIVATE. [/ QUOTE ] OK buddy, don't shout! An auto electrician should be able to fix it for you, although if it needs new parts, they may need to come from VW. Best of luck

TIDYDUBS
Usually a good old terminal 30 reset disconnecting the battery positive and negative for approx 5 mins should do the job. Thats if locks unlock but wont fire the rest up......the other thing code the remote as easily done by yourself............
