halfcab
I'm not yet an Audi owner (hopefully by the weekend), but would like some advice from some seasoned owners. I am interested in buying a 1.9 tdi Est, and have seen one localy in my price range. It is a 97®, with 115,000 miles on the clock, one owner and a FSH in immaculate condition, but the dealer isn't sure wether it's a 110bhp, or a 90bhp. What are the visable differences that will tell the two apart? Also, what should I look out for on an Audi of this age/mileage + any qeustions I should ask the dealer. Thank's in advance!! Mark. peterb
The badging on the rear hatch should tell you. If the 'i' of 'TDi' is silver, it's a 90bhp version. If the 'i' is red, then it's 110bhp.
Snail
I think it actually tells you on the sticker (which details colour etc)in the spare wheel well
peterb
[ QUOTE ] I think it actually tells you on the sticker [/ QUOTE ] True - it should quote the power in kW. 66kW = 90bhp, 81kW = 110bhp.
Snail
May i also say, as an owner of a 90BHP TDi......the 110 is a much better engine......faster, and better fuel economy.....wish id looked harder.
halfcab
Thank's guy's, that will give me something to look for! Any general advice about the car?
Snail
Don't buy one without air con. other than that, full service history is essential with that mileage, get the car inspected, and ask for a new cam/alternator belt when purchasing...... i brought my TDi 90 about 2 years ago with 105k on the clock, shes now done over 50k since....trouble free.....most reliable car i've ever had!
