Hi to all.

Nice to see a growing ban of Cab fans, what a descerning tasteful bunch of folks we are!

I have just purchased a 3.0 Sport from Hude near Bremen. I imported through Sport Import who were very good indeed.

I drove my car to Cuxhaven took the overnight ferry to Harwich and drove home which is about 20 miles north of Cardiff in South Wales.

On my trip home I averaged 38.4 driving smoothly and not exceeding 75 mph.

Some of the roads north of Bremen would not be out of place in Highway hell Britain.

I have sports suspension and RS4 18" 9 Spoke Alloys fitted shod with 40 section 245 ZR Continentals.

The suspension proved a revelation. surprisingly compliant and forgiving on some very rough sections but an absolute delight on good surfaces, through sweeping fast roads, What a Blast!

I found the 3.0 creamy smooth, I also have a TDI as a Family car it's a Golf GTI 150 which is great fun but this engine was very different in character to what I had been used to. I did have to keep a keen eye on the speedo' so very quiet and turbine like torque delivery.

To look at this car in Silver with Dark Blue Roof is an absolute delight, stuns onlookers from every angle.

The interior is so beautifully crafted, I spec'd Blue Nappa Sports seats with full electrics, they take up a little more room or perhaps it's my perception.

My Youngest of two children who is 5 is slightly hampered by the length of the rear seat forcing him to sit with his legs out straight instead of hinged at the knee.

This is a slight problem when I drive because I have to have my seat as far back as possible being 6'3". Head room is not a problem though.

The seats are great all the same. I contrasted this with Vavona wood with really does bring out the colour of the interior.

At night as always Audis look superb illuminated and this car lives up to the same high standards, this is further enhanced by the interior light pack which cascades soft red illumination over the centre console it really does look great.

The Xenons really complete the picture, wow! they really do dazzle and sparkle.

I considered BMW, though not Mercedes( I gather they are currently lying fourth in the German quality table)

I opted for the Audi for several reasons, The newness of the model range, Series 3 are everywhere. The look of the Audi is streets ahead of any other comparable Cabriolet.

The build quality seemed to have the edge on the 'Beamer'.

The Audi seemed to have always been designed to be Cabriolet and the 3 looks a little clumsy with its roof, it just doesn't fit as well as the Audi too many cross braces breaking up the lines.

I would concede the Beamer was at least the equal of the Audi in the driving stakes but no better in my view.

It is I believe, unfashionably fashionable to just say the BMW is the ultimate drivers car, it should not be taken for granted anymore, which is what the media seem to do.

I have yet to travel in the back with the roof down, The children have not complained so I assume it is acceptable.

I don't have a problem with buffeting. I thought it just

fine, although this is my first Cabriolet of any type.

I have a wind deflector(not a medical aid), although I don't use it consistently. I hope to fully evaluate the top down experience if we ever get a summer in the UK.

The roof up experience is very refined with a really exellent fit an finish to the hood both inside and out.

The Engineering of the opening and closing almost raised a round of applause outside a country pub quite recently. It really is superb.

All things considered, I am over the moon with the Car as are my Children( the other one is 7 and is she 7!) and Partner.

I now get to clean the car, put it in and out of the garage not forgetting the Tax and Insurance.

I must not forget to put my request in writing if I want to drive it to work or just for a pleasure trip Oh Well! So much for the New Man Image.......

All the best.

Gez. P.S. What is the best way to post pictures to the forum.

Hi Gez!

Great to have another Cabrio owner on the board, welcome! beerchug.gif

I went through a very similar thought proces to yourself when I was looking and came to the same conclusions. The Audi is to my mind without doubt the nicest looking and best quality interior cabrio on the market today.

Also, like yourself I didn't want to be "yet another bloody 3 series" on the road.

I've had mine since 1st March and love it more and more, it really is a fantastic car! smlove2.gif

I'm sure you have already, but if not have a trawl through this forum, there a a whole load of cabrio conversation, photos and thoughts and information on here.

Cheers for now! beerchug.gif

Hi Ari.

No I haven't yet had a good look around but it's great to see such an active and positive bunch of people.

I hope to be a part of this community for a long time.

I did post attach a photo with my post, may be it was too large a file but I don't see it anywhere.

How do you set up a gallery.

Do you know of an owners club being set up for us people with no roof over our heads.

Cheers.

Good to have you on board mate!

Gallery is easy. Click "Gallery" above, then click "Car photos", then click "Audi", then go to the last page (page 8) where you'll see an empty gallery. Click on it to go into it, then click "Add photos" at the top right. This will open a browsing window. Click for the number of photos you want to upload, then browse each one from your hard drive and finally click "Upload now".

Simple. Any probs let us know and we'll try to help.

Cheers, beerchug.gif

Hi Gez, and welcome

Sound like you are well please with your purchase!

Unfortunately you were mis-sold the interior light pack like many of us here .. that lovely eerie glow comes as standard.

Look forward to seeing some pics.
