Ari
Done a few miles on holiday in the cabrio this week. We went up to Hayling Island to see a friend I've not seen for a while, so along the coast road (A35) with quite a few fast bits and a lot of hills. Then the following day up to London for a few days, including a late night cruise around the city to see the lights (hood up driving round the city at night cos worried about security, am I paranoid or was this a wise precaution?). Then back out yesterday and down the M4 in heavy traffic and rain so 60-70mph most of the time. Detour to Bath for lunch and then back home. Roof down from here to Hayling Island, and from HI to London. Roof up coming home cos it was raining. Total culmative consumption 33mpg which I thought was excellent considering it included some fast driving and some buzzing round London. Best figure was out of London and down to Bath, 37mpg including driving out through London and into Bath. It is definitely more economical on a run than my previous A3 T-sport quattro, impressive given that it is bigger and much heavier, although of course not having the drag of four wheel drive helps, and I think the aerodynamics are better too. All in all, very impressed with the car yet again.
pepsi32
33mpg is good mate. As an all round average with speed accelerations, engine braking and stop/start town driving you can't grumble at anything 30mpg and above these days. Due to heavier cars for TUV ratings and sound deadening etc. Give me me old Mk1 white Campaign Golf GTI. 84 on an A and the whole world wanted it.... Saw an old mate of mine today in a 4month old RS6 saloon. text msging each other at 125mph can't be condoned!
Bison1379134007
i get 15mpg round town no joy at all... and if you were wearing "the hat" i reckon having the roof up was a good idea.. wouldn't want the other pimps thinking you were muscleing in their turf!
