pontyslapper
If you are following the rally around South Wales this next few days BEWARE - the talivans are out to get you. For your licences sake, and your pockets - KEEP TO THE POSTED LIMIT. Don't give the bastards the satisfaction or the revenue to keep going. If you are travelling the A470 NORTH out of Cardiff, there is a 40MPH limit for a good few miles starting at the last set of traffic lights out of Cardiff (Manor Way, opposite the Golf Course) and running north until just before the Caerphilly exit slip. If you join the A470 from the M4, you will be bang in the middle of it. Stick below 40MPH - 4 talivans were on the A470 yesterday and earlier today in the 40 zone. 2 on each side of the road, directly opposite each other. They locate themselves just by the Taffs Well Woodyard, just a few hundred yards north of the South Wales Forgemasters buildings (just after the M4/A470 change over slips, just after the Radyr off slip). You'll go under a bridge and round a gentleish bend, they are up on the old police hardstanding HIDDEN behind a mini JCB thats behind some imposing metal fencing. Further up the A470, you'll find them on the bridges over the A470 at Rhydfelin (on the 'Tesco' straight) and on the bridges at Pontypridd (Closed off slip road, then on bridges that form Ponty Giratory), Cilfynydd (A470 goes split level, then round a bend, houses on your right, and a valley with houses on your left, normally on bridges just past the ped. footbridge) then in laybys and bridges all the way up from there until after Myrthyr Tydfil. Listen out to Red Dragon FM 103.2FM, Rally FM 87.7FM, Real Radio 105.4FM. Hope this helps.

loddrik
Well pointed out that man, plan to travel to the rally tomorrow. I remember when Liverpool won the FA cup in 2000, the bast*rds got me on the motorway on the way in to Cardiff, 5 points and a £250 fine
simonb
They got me going watching the rugby going to Cardiff last year too. 97 mph in a VW Touran. Excellent! 5 points and a £350 fine! How fast were you going Lodders??
pontyslapper
http://www.checkyourspeed.org.uk/ The local Scamerati for South and Mid Wales Read that propaganda... oh, they do mention camera locations - assume ALL locations on the roads to and from Rally stages will be covered using Talivans or even 'hired' in Talivans

cruiser647
They even caught loads of actual RALLY DRIVERS the first time.......that is really off. These rally drivers just don't know how to handle a car at any speed and must be taught a serious lesson!
NeilB
Remember a few years ago when they got most of the rally drivers who were going from one stage to service? The drivers ignored the fines, yet 12 months later when they returned they hauled them up before the judge to get the fine out of them. They even stopped one driver (Can't remember who, Peugeot works driver I think) for driving on illegal tyre tread depth even though he was running out of time to get back to service and stay in the rally! rhyds
Aye, last year they stopped Marcus Gronholm, not because of illegal tyres but because his front wheel was hanging off after an accident
RedRobin
I must say that hearing stuff like how sneaky these barstewards are makes me very angry at them . What happened to what I thought was the law that all speed camera checks have to be signed in their approaches? Just rumour? Just wishful thinking?
