mb
Hi the transformer on my (house) alarm has packed up - the input to the PCB is labelled 21VAC but when I look at Maplins they only seem to have 12V or 25V. Does anyone know where I can buy a 21VAC transformer or if it would be OK to give the alarm panels 25VAC ? Thanks Martin
hotdog
What make is the alarm system? 21Vac is very unusual! Normally they are 11.4 to 12.8v.
mb
Hi - it is a Scantronic 9448, I have managed to find a panel on ebay so hopefully this will no longer be a problem. The panel has an input that states 21VAC on it. The internal fuse kept blowing (immediately) & when I tested the transformer it produced about 2 V before promptly exploding ! Maplins have 12 V & 25 V AC Transformers so if the panel doesn't come off will probably try one of these - would you risk 25V or go for 12 and see if that works first ? hotdog
The 25v would be preferable as if the voltage is lower the panel will draw excessive current. Let me know how the Ebay thing goes. Meantime I'll ring a few contacts see if they can't dig one out
