Rather than post this up top, thought here would be better for fellow 32ers...

The CN unit should arrive next week & I'm minded to splice in a secondary cigarette lighter socket behind the existing so I can the conceal the connection and only power up when the ignition is on.

Got a second lighter socket yesterday, question is how do I connect it in?

I would suggest you use some wire and tap off the existing ciggy lighter using scotch locks

Nooooooooooooooooooooo !!!! not scotch locks + its a pig to get to the back of the Ciggy lighter in the mk4

On the drivers side there is a pannel that drops down by removing X3 T20 Torx screws and a little tugging. This will then reveal the main Buzz bar, its all stickered up and you want the nut on to the left of the bar it is labled up in yellow (75X) this is an IGN feed the Earth can be picked up using a nut just above the buzz bar quite close to the yellow tap.

Well that picture is actually from a LHD car to if you picture the bonnet catch on the Right hand side of the picture you may figure it out

Is that 87F terminal always live, even when the starter is going (unlike the X terminal)?
