Avus RS4 B5 @ 130 mph

Spotted when cruising home today after a two night break in the Peak District. Heading south down a quiet M1 around J22 at 10:30am this [sunday] morning, the B5 Avus RS4 absolutely blasted by in lane 3. Lovely noise; didn't sound OE. Must have been doing at least 130 mph: A graphic demonstration of 'Audi at work'. Didn't get any of the vrn - yes it was going that fast. Approaching a pocket of traffic in lane two, it gave an Autobahn-style flick of the right indicator from its rapid approach in lane three. Gone! Just hope it slowed up through the specs-governed 40 mph roadworks a few junctions further south.

Stupid driving at those sorts of speeds with traffic around.

I gave my R a hell of a blast last year with another R in tow late sunday afternoon on the M* with hardly another vechile on the highway.

We got up to a silly speed, before the R behind me (approx 150 yrds) gave me a flash and pulled to the middle lane, then up came a git in a TVR, sniffing my exausts, gave the R a heck of a wringing, maxing out in top gear eased into the middle lane and let him past, getting the bird as he went on his way. I could see in the far distance a clump of traffic, to which at my horror the TVR now some 500-600 yrds away was approaching flat out, the other R driver caught me up pretty quick aswell, but slowed down to my speed,(85), to comment on the momment of madness by the TVR, never been in that speed region since and probly never will, well at least not on the roads in this country.

To be fair at 10:30am on Sunday morning the M1 was quiet. We were cruising down the inside lane, as were the few vehicles in front and behind us. The 'pocket' ahead were two cars overtaking a truck. J23 (Campbell Scientific / Shepshed / Loughborough) south through J22 is straight, smooth, wide and clear sighted. Incredibly tempting.....
