No Locking Wheel Nuts?

I will go and look at the TT in a mo but my mate had a flat tyre on his A4 last week and we changed it (well he did) and you had to flick some fiddly little cover things off - but not sure to be honest if his were locking wheel nuts.....(would have thought so..... confused.gif)

thats not overly helpful really. At least I've sort of changed a wheel..... grin.gifcoffee.gif

Gotcab I would strongly recommend you invest in a set of McGuards or similar locking nuts. It is a well known fact that there are only 10 Audi/VW lock nut "combinations" and as a means of protecting your wheels they are next to useless.

£30-£40 spent now is less than your excess is should you have to claim as some little chav fancied a set of RS6 wheels 169144-ok.gif

the wheel nuts have plastic covers on them...use the plastic flimsy tool in the tool kit to pull them off, then you will see 4 17mm bolts and one locking one 169144-ok.gif

It's worth keeping an eye on them too - I've lost 2 or 3 this year. Every time I wash the wheels I just give the nut covers a prod.

Got a couple of spares now , they're only 30p odd from Audi. They look naff missing.

just got my mcguards 28018sl i think. i was a bit disappointed to find that the key lock or combination so to speak is open to the elements and the eye......whats stopping someone using some sort of putty to take an impression and then coming back after making key from the mould and nicking the wheels. looks like a simple job to me.

I vaguely recall reading on here that some people have bought plastic hexagon wheel nut look covers that they've fitted over the McGards (similar to the ones that fit over the standard screws).

Ah the dulcid paranoia.....you could also lock your car up in the garage and never use it so as to mitigate the potential of somebody coming along with their blue tak and taking an impression of your locking wheel nuts too?? 169144-ok.gif
