Bora - Stiff Boot

My wife has just got herself a VW Bora company car for 6 months until she changes. Its actually a great car! Rarer than the Golf and a nice quiet drive (1.6 engine is a bit weak, but its a fully loaded SE spec 169144-ok.gif)

Anyway, the only problem with it it that the boot is incredibly stiff to open / close! Like, i can only just do it and im a fecking Rugby player! shocked.gif

Is this common and if so, is there a simple cure as we dont want it off the road for a day to take into the stealers.... Cheers! 169144-ok.gif

They become very stiff due to the hinges become rusty (not nuts) because the hinges are exposed to the outside of the vehical.

My drive is on a slope and I always park the car facing down. Therefore there is always (after rain) a massive collection of water just where you describe. I have to admit, I've never had a stiff hinge and I would appear to be a prime candidate. Fine it might rust even though it shouldn't, but enough to almost prevent you from opening it. blush.gif
