Road Angel for Mac users...

ATTENTION Mac Users who want New Road Angel:

Have spoken with Blackspot this morning and although they have no plans to write software drivers for Apple Macs, the workaround is to either buy their modem box for about £39 which bypasses any computer and updates directly to your Road Angel OR to ask a mate if you can USB connect to his/her Windoze PC and update online. Your registered Road Angel will be automatically recognised when you connect for updating by either method.

Voila! Never give up!!

I'm now going to email Blackspot and tell them to update their web site to stop stating "Apple Macs are not supported" and to inform of the modem option.

Heya Red Robin. Only asking who you were the other day in the 'recent posters' thread - understandably locked by Hopsta. A quick look at your 'recent posts' reveals you do have a particular favourite forum!!

Nice MkV GTI btw - oh and I'm loving the wonderfully apt plate!

Hi Ian....When you find out who I am please tell me!! I've spent over half a century trying to figure it out!

Yep, my favourite car and forum is the VW Mk5 GTI. Though to be fair I haven't ventured out among the Big Boys & Girls in the other forums much - Scary out here. Seriously though, I really think TSN is a great site and has the perfect balance of everything and I daren't start spending time in the other forums as I'm too addicted as it is.

Thanks for the compliment about my car. I wasn't looking for a special plate but just curious what gobblygook I was going to be given and couldn't resist it when I came across it. Less expensive than others cos VW don't have the same status as BMW etc and Red isn't a typical Englishman's name. So, as a tribute to the car and not my ego, and in the interests of social duty by helping those who are partially sighted or colour blind - Voila! I do receive a lot of very positive comments and grins about my plate rather than 'who does that pr*** think he is?'. Again thanks.

Back on the subject of the Sweet Black Road Angel....What warning distance setting works well without too much or short a distance before the money-box? 200yds? Anyone know what the triple/double/single bar sign distances are on M'way junctions?

Cheers 169144-ok.gif

Yeah the GTi is a lovely car. Yet to take a trip in one but looking forward to the day I do - likely to be someone who attends a Tyresmoke meet no doubt. Been the subject of many a debate but I reckon it is an absolute bargain - if you can avoid the options list that is! Are the Xenons £600 like on the Sportback? They turn night into day, magic!

The Xenons really are magic....Especially the way they 'blink' when you remote unlock your car at night....Very cool. Great to drive by but quite a few other drivers still think your lights are on main beam - Until you flash them up and then it's Burn! Baby, Burn!! and they soon stop. Not a good idea to do that to a long distance artic though! £725 extra on the GTI - Not cheap. Difficult to avoid the options list if you want a practical hatch and allrounder which is something a bit more special.

I get my Road Angel tomorrow 169144-ok.gif
