Thorburn
Wish I hadn't fecking agreed to run an errand for my mum before heading back to work this morning! On the way back had already started to turn into a corner when saw a Rover 25 coming round the other way and already edging over the white lines. I turned out to avoid it before trying to turn back in, now a bit late and a little too hot. Back breaks away and I wheel on the lock and the back wheels come round to riding on the verge...... + roadsign removed to protect the innocent = So angry I could spit
Milo
Ouch. Sorry to hear about this mate. Did the other driver stop? Looks like an insurance job
NeilB
Owch, looks like it's just cosmetic and needs a new bumper. And don't be silly Milo, Rover 25 drivers don't stop at accidents. They just say "Look at that reckless driver, now lets go and fold our tartan blanket on the back seat" Old buggers.
runflat
hard luck mate, hope you get it sorted fairly painlessly
Thorburn
Going to try and do it without insurance as my excess is £600 and it'll push my premium up £300 if I lose my NCB! Other car didn't stop, but even if it had, what would I of been able to do, I avoided them and then went and had my own little accident, if I'd of hit them head on it would of been far easier

NewNiceMrMe
Aw sh1t mate, terrible to hear that and see those photo's. Sounds a bit similar to my double roll in the MX-5. At least you're in one piece and the car damage is repairable. MX-5's - lots of fun...but a few spills en route!!! I hope the bill isn't too big. Now back off that accelerator a little young James because we don't want to lose a TSN-er!

[/ QUOTE ] I was doing about 40mph when it happened Lucky as I was just cruising otherwise expect the damage would of been much worse! Been trying to check out the suspension to make sure I haven't bent the wishbones and they all LOOK straight but guess I'm going to have to get it checked over at a bodyshop. A replacement bumper is £217 + vat + painting according to Mazda but the wing is awkward apparently and they've quoted me a silly price so going to have to find a good independent bodyshop I think! [/ QUOTE ] Nope, didn't even see the guy until about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way round the corner, had already turned in and saw he was heading for a nice meeting with the front of mine so steered left towards the left hand side turned then tried to make it round what had turned into a very tight corner at what would of been cruising speed for the 'actual corner'. I think that makes sense.
Thorburn
Quick diagram of what happened. Green = planned line Red = what happened Blue = Rover Two things can easily be concluded: 1) I cannot draw 2) Fecking Rovers
NeilB
I can see what the Rover driver did now, don't worry the Rover driver will get his come uppance with that line sooner or later, as that will more then likely spit them out into a tree. theduisbergkid
Post traumatic stress disorder will soon account for the Rover driver, just when they're sitting down for a nice cup of tea with heartbeat on the telly they'll keel over ... Durrsaku
Ouch that looks bad. Not very nice thing to happen and it is not anywhere around Swindon is it? Feel sorry for you mate. There is a bodywork place very near to where you leave James who will do a good job. Let me know if you need help.

TP27
Just picked up on events, sorry to hear of your woes, especially as you may have to pay for it outside Insurance. At least you're OK!!
Thorburn
Not looking promising The wings on the MX-5 are welded on and its damaged both above the wheel and behind the bumper. So it'll need replacing, a replacement wing is about £200 but then got to get it taken off, new one welded on, painted (and thats going to be expensive as got to be blended to match the door and boot). Looking more and more like it'll be an insurance job if I want it done properly (which I do), I really didn't need this

These little knocks look easily repairable until all the parts are stripped away. Now, go buy a wrecked Rover, get a sledgehammer, and give it a few . Might make you feel better. Thorburn
Dads just got back and has said is going to help me with the cost as wasn't my fault and doesn't reckon its as bad as I do. Getting dropped off in Swindon tomorrow and with any luck should have got it sorted and good as new by the time I'm back next (off to Dubai on the 23rd, back to Somerset on the 7th October most likely)
MOSE
Bloody 'ell JT, just picked up on this. Although its gutting to see the damage and hear that the other car was at fault, the main thing is to realise it could have been a hell of a lot worse and of course the fact that you are 100% aok! I know its very unlikely in these circumstances, but did you manage to get any of the reg number for the Rover? I had a nearmiss with a Range Rover on my way back from Reading tonight, I was in outside approaching a RR on the left side of me and without warning he indicates and pulls out to the right. So had to floor it to get by him. He was close to me for about 2 miles up theroad and as I entered the petrol station he was decent enough to follow in and admit he was at fault, said he didnt see me in his wing mirror. These things happen mate and as much as i is gutting to see your pride and joy damaged, you are safe and that is all that counts!! Good on the old man for helping you out, thats what Dads are for
