juss
I have a question - how many cars (%) in U.S.A have automatic transmission?
Mollox
That's a bit of a daft question really isn't it? Why do you need to know??
Avus_Bub
Oh Mollox you changed your post I'd say 344 at least because the Chevy Monte Carlo the wife and I had last week in Florida was auto If not, it's definitely more than that. I know it's more than manual or 'Stick' or ' 4 on the floor' Hope that helps. BUB
Mollox
I saw the % sign... Since when was 344 a percentage?

sayerbloke
All rental cars over there are auto, I think. Otherwise, probably about 75% I`d guess? Maybe a bit higher.
Chav
Yep, maybe more. They don't have corners so they don't need gears do they! ...plus, need to keep it simple for them!
schmoo
since this is the first post and a big one at that, is it a statistic gathering ploy? ask an american website if you want to know or enquire with american manufacturers.. they would know more than us here

But some of those exit ramps are pretty tight The Mrs even got the 'Carlo (as I like to call it) to tyre squeal a couple of times The 'Bong' noise when you turn the ignition on,open the door, put the handbrake on or fart must be for Them too.................. sayerbloke
[ QUOTE ] The Mrs even got the 'Carlo (as I like to call it) to tyre squeal a couple of times [/ QUOTE ] That`s all part of the fun; because their cars don't have as much grip you can get the tyres squealing at lower speeds! Mollox
[ QUOTE ] since this is the first post and a big one at that, is it a statistic gathering ploy? ask an american website if you want to know or enquire with american manufacturers.. they would know more than us here [/ QUOTE ] Well it’s not so much that we don’t know – it’s the fact that its an impossible question… [ QUOTE ] What % of cars in the USA have an automatic transmission? [/ QUOTE ] To answer that, you’d need to know the split of automatic/manual cars sold in the USA since the conception of the automobile and then you’d need to know exactly how many of those cars (and which ones) are still on the road. Only then could you answer this! Fact is its, impossible. If the question is what % of cars sold in the USA are automatic then this is likely to be available via either a manufacturers’ association, their equivalent of the DVLA or a car magazine. If I had to guess, I’d say 90% or higher
