Well it’s not so much that we don’t know – it’s the fact that its an impossible question…

To answer that, you’d need to know the split of automatic/manual cars sold in the USA since the conception of the automobile and then you’d need to know exactly how many of those cars (and which ones) are still on the road. Only then could you answer this!

Fact is its, impossible.

If the question is what % of cars sold in the USA are automatic then this is likely to be available via either a manufacturers’ association, their equivalent of the DVLA or a car magazine.

If I had to guess, I’d say 90% or higher
