harminder
Hi Guys, I brought my car not long ago with the benefit that my long life service was not going to be due for approx another 16k! Next service is due to be the 80k service and so will probably be in the region of around £800. Anyhow, I have done approx 4k in the car and service indicator is now showing that next service is due in 11k! I know the movement is minor and I know that the service indicator is variable......but was just wandering what (if anything) I can do to prevent the service time being reduced any further? Anyone have any good tips? Sorry if been discussed before
harminder
No idea anyone? All I want is to stop the serivce indicator knocking off 300 miles to next service everytime I drive only 100 miles? Hopefully I can get it reduced in comparison to the actual mileage I do (or near enough).. Just read that topping up the oil regular enough can help? PetrolDave
Keep the oil topped up but NOT above max (letting it go below min knocks 300 miles off), keep the revs down, don't let the engine labour in a high gear (keep the revs up!) - drive like your Gran! thefast1
Don't know if it is true but a mate reckons every time you lift the bonnet the service interval time will increase as the computer thinks maintenace has been carried out. Waylander
naa that doesn't work for me. i found that when i started doing a longish commute [40 motorway miles daily] the interval dropped by 100 for every 200miles i did and dragged by service interval up from 14.7k [what it was showing for the first 8 months while i was doing city miles] and in the end i got to 16.8k at my service. i did top the fuel up once too - made bugger all difference
Tobes49
Looks at how you drive, and distance. Also takes into account oil levels and some other readings, But a car driven short distances with a lot of stop start will reduce the interval but regular motorway driving will give you the maxium interval. jonboy3020
Everytime you open the bonnet, if the service now light is showing it will delay its reillumination for sixty miles. Your interval will never exceed 20k miles or two years. Thermal sensors and quality sensors for the oil also govern that fact, assuming QG1 oil was put in a the last service? Or your service indicator in the dash panel as actually been set up correctly!
