chiyung
Hi all, Looking for some advice please! I experienced the dreaded window dropping this weekend - took it into my local VW dealer and was told that the window motor and regulators needed to be repaired for a total of £420 which I have refused. Now all the other electrics (mirrors, central locking) were functional - since they've taken the motor out (and refusing to put it back in) all the electrics are not working!! How can the motor be broken if all other electrics were working before? Do I have a case of neglect and pursue the complaint further? Thanks for the help! Mook
Welcome to Tyresmoke chiyung If the other electrics were working before you took the car in then the dealer should put them back to how they were, which will probably mean refitting the window motor for you. The most important thing is to be cool as a cucumber when you talk to the service manager and get them to agree that "it isn't really acceptable is it?" If you don't get anywhere with the dealer, then call VW customer services and try to get it resolved that way. HTH
Rustynuts
You really need to tell us which dealer this is. The broken window clips are a well documented fault, and the motor doesn't break in this way. They're specifying 2 parts to replace to fix one fault. Ask them which part is the one which broke! Very strange to have 2 parts break at exactly the same time.
pingpongpo
My window dropped on Sunday, luckily enough I was within the warranty period by 2 weeks. They said the regulator was faulty. Although I hazard a guess that they had to replace some clips too.
mulkbear
The window motor is also a control unit so if there is no control unit there is no power/control to power the mirros and central locking, I have known a motor to burn out due to the snapped cables wrapping around the motor and jamming it, as the over heat protection only stops over heating not jamming the motor burns out. mulkbear
By the way these are the clips that snap!
