Rustynuts
Just had the van MOT'd, and gone are the days of "Bring it down and we'll have a look at some point!". It's all gone computerised, and linked to DVLA. The new MOT certificate is printed off online and the details are held on a compter database at DVLA I presume. All MOT appointments are logged aswell, so the can only do as many as they're allocated based on the number of testers, test bays, hours in a day etc. and re-test fees are now mandatory aswell (so I'm told). As a result of this new MOT I can now tax my van online when it comes due in April, as they already know it has a valid MOT. I presume I'll also get a fixed penalty fine when the MOT expires next year and I forget to have it done in time.
cossie604
Its still not nation wide as they're having problems....still lol We've all got our new Smart cards at work ready and just waiting for the thumbs up to start using the system. Not looking forward to it tbh...can see us having teething problems for some time yet Not sure with regards the mandantory retest fee's tho....as the fee's are just guide lines, doesnt matter to the ministry how much we charge as they dont see any of the money anyhow
simkna
I was expecting all this new gubbins when I took my Mazda for it's MOT last Friday, but it was just the good old scrawl on a test cert after a cursory prod an a poke.
