sayerbloke
Two other quick spots first: A brand new M5 and a number plate that read 'BU51 MEE' [busy me]. Anyway. You know how the exhaust on a diesel usually curves down at the end, so it points at the ground? The project manager at the site we were on today has a 406. He has debadged it [badly] and from a distance it looks like the exhaust exits straight out the back. However, get to within a couple of metres of it, and you can see the exhaust actually points downwards at the end and the bit that points straight back isn't piped in; it's just a piece of metal attached to the end of the exhaust pipe to make it look like it exits straight out the back like a petrol one. Never seen that done before. Anyone else?

Snail
I read somewhere all Jag diesels do that, they have fake tailpipes, so they dont have the tell tale sooty exhaust endings.
malagus
If you look at the back of a MASERATI MC12, the rear left twin exhausts are fake! it was in evo a while back ,.you can see daylight thro' them, rediculous on that sort of car. Ian_C
Sayer, not the first time I have heard of that design of exhaust on the 406 HDI. Might be standard on later models? Ian
