walter_the_great
as title, what would you go for? both roughly the same price, but the tvr would be brand new, where as the ferrari would be 7-8 years old. i can't make my mind up, can you?? MattR32
I'd have the Sagaris. Quicker, probably better made (my inlaws had a 355 - The build quality was tragic), more aggressive, unusual. Downsides are no ABS or airbags (in fact NO safety kit) and less image. Woppum
You can pick up very used 360's now for similar money!
simonb
Ooooh - just voted - 50/50! Controversial or what!?!
NeilB
TVR Sagaris for me, you will look less like a footballer as you drive and it's something different on the roads.
MattR32
I think 355s are looking a bit "80s banker" these days even though they were a 90s car!
walter_the_great
imo, i think the tvr is a better deal, but a ferrari is a ferrari , i don't really like the 360, i prefer the looks of the 355.
Woppum
I went with the Trev. Love the look of them.

walter_the_great
tbh, i did'nt want to say it, but i think the 360 looks a bit smooth, if you know what i mean , the 355 imo is the best looking (affordable) ferrari, especially with the challenge grill
walter_the_great
some thing to help with the decision.
Snail
How much of a death wish have you got? and are you on first name terms with the AA? Personally, id take the frequant AA call outs, and risk my life on a daily basis with the TVR, its a 'mans' car.
walter_the_great
i'm sure i read it somewhere that the sagaris is more reliable than previous tvr's
theduisbergkid
Sagaris, or maybe a Tuscan S but in a subtle colour, that orange will look naff in the future...
Drinks
Sagaris for me, Not sure about the subtle colour for any TVR. In two minds about this one just sold at HLgorner. Interior is tragic but i like the exterior
MattR32
That Russian toddler that bought TVR seems to have improved things a lot. Sagaris still has a flappy bonnet though! Bet it's more solid than a 355 - I was shocked at the flimsiness of the outlaws Berlinetta. Sounded lovely though.
Mook
Having seen a brand new Sagaris on a Sunday morning stopping for some go-juice (along with six or so other TVR's in various flavours) and noticing the amount of time it took to restart the thing, I'd have to be the F355. Sagaris sounds fantastic and looks great (esp. in the pearlescent ever-changing purple above), but a bit too "in your face" for me But the annual service and maintenance costs of the 355... walter_the_great
IMO any tvr has to be in a outrageous colour, what do you mean by "noticing the amount of time it took to restart the thing" was it broken down? they can't be that unreliable, can they... Mook
[ QUOTE ] they can't be that unreliable, can they... [/ QUOTE ] Brand new. Pulled onto the forecourt. Filled up. Paid. 5 minutes to get it started again - the starter motor just kept spinning and spinning and it almost coughed into life then went back to sleep again before eventually firing up. The proud owner looked more than a little sheepish. My brother-in-law had a Tamora last year and had to sell it after 6 months because it was forever in getting fixed. That's not to say that all TVR's are unreliable - like Mastra and a lot of the motoring press have said, reliability and build quality has improved a lot of late since the new owner took over. Can only be a good thing
activa
[ QUOTE ] they can't be that unreliable, can they... [/ QUOTE ] They sure can! I have never met a TVR owner that would have another.I'm sure they exist but I've never met one. Once chatted to a guy that had bought a new Cerbera(a few years back obviously)and the amount of major parts that he'd had replaced in 6 months/9k of motoring was ridiculous. Apparently TVR accepted it as the norm.
walter_the_great
wow, but still when you look at the results of the poll, most would rather have an Sagaris rather than a 355, i suppose its part of the experience of owning a tvr. simonb
I heard that TVR have bought scooter company Benelli, and are going to soon produce superbikes to take on the world! They'll be expensive rare things that are unreliable, but yet slightly cheaper than the competition - just like their cars really then.
activa
[ QUOTE ] They'll be expensive rare things that are unreliable, but yet slightly cheaper than the competition - just like their cars really then. [/ QUOTE ] Absolutely! Thing is,like most people I have always loved the sound, right from when I first heard a Tasmin as a kid-and that only had a 2.8 Granny/Capri lump. The sound got better as the cylinders multiplied and the capacity got bigger! I don't accept this nonsense though,of if you buy a TVR what do you expect.O.K,so in performance car world they aren't that expensive and when the Cerbera was first made it was a bargain at circa 40k. It's still 40 grand, and why,for that money, should you have to suffer annoying/embarassing breakdowns on a regular basis. As far as I'm concerned if Porsche can make mega-fast reliable cars then why can't the others. Alright,Porsches aren't as in your face as TVR's but then there's something to be said for that too! Drinks
Simon, I'm from Chester, but been seriously looking into a mk2 tuscan for the beginning of next year. Almost bought one earlier this year but managed to persuade myself that it was a very bad idea for my bank balance.
