Chris_B
One thing I dislike about XP is how you have to set every folder up to your preferred view when you go into it, so I turned off "remember folder settings" and made every folder default to my preferred settings (detail view, sort by type). Now I want to break that rule for certain folders, like My Documents, My Pictures, My Music etc, so that I can have thumbnail view sorted by name for media content, and detail view sorted by type everywhere else. Can I get XP to do it? No. I tried turning "rememebr each folders settings" back on, and going to the Customize tab in Explorer and setting My Pictures up as "Pictures" and ticked "apply to subfolders". Well, when I then click on existing subfolders, they're still on details view. Is there any way to make a folder and all it's existing and future sub-folders stick to a certain view? Sparky
Can't you set up how you want the majority of folders to appear, and then open My Computer > Tools > Folder Options and click "Apply to all folders", but then go back and manually alter the view settings for said folders? This works fine on my machine.
Chris_B
Yes, but I have lots of sub-folders under My Pictures, and it's a PITA having to go and fix them all. I had hoped "Also apply this template to all subfolders" would make all subfolders look and behave exactly the same way. It doesn't.
Chris_B
Oh, and does anyone know where folder view settings are kept when it's remembering them?
