I have just about bought a standard vw R32 exhaust and hope it is easily fitted onto my 4motion has anyone done this before? I cant understand if i will need to remove the towing eye or not,Im not looking for performance gains just a sound like an R. Ive owned a R32 before and just cant get the sound out of my head.I had thought of just getting a single exit milltek but this one came along and I thought if the origional exhaust goes onto the v6 4Motion it should sound very similar

Should od as both cars have the same floor plan and 4WD system, so underside of boths cars should be the same.

Now that you've bought it I guess it a case of have a go and see if its fits.

The only point to think about is the right side (looking from the rear) exhaust hanger bracket. Cos the R32 has one on each side but the 4MO might not as its exhaust is single side.

Easy to get one made up and welded on tho!!

There are a lot of 1.8T owners on ukmkivs.net who have R32 bodykits with dual exit exhausts, but these are mostly aftermarket ones. The 1.8T and 2.0 has the rear silencer on one side and the fuel tank across the rest of the back of the car, so both exit pipes come out of the same exit point on the rear silencer (on the left as you look at the rear of the car) and one of the exit pipes wraps around tucked behind the bumper to come out of the tailpipe exit on the right hand side of the bumper as you look at the back of the car.

You could be getting yourself into doing lots of work - I would check where the current exhaust system and fuel tank sit on your 4Mo before taking anything off.

If you're looking for a similar sound, I would seriously look at going for the Milltek dual pipe system to replace the current stock system. Aside from the boomy stock R32 exhaust, you may have some challenges selling the car if it has been modified too much.

Best of luck whatever you do 169144-ok.gif

The 4 motion has a large rear silencer hung width ways under the boot same as the R32, it just has the tips pointing out of one side only. So I would have thought it would go straight on but I suspect some cutting of metal work would be needed for the right hand tip.

If I still had mine I would have gone for the 4motion milltek, but I guess the old R exhaust was cheaper
