Yep, love my planes. I'm just missing them whilst I'm off work.

Why should I mention the word import in my AT ad? Show me a VW that isn't an import.

What do you mean? Loads aren't imports.... And loads will ring up and want your car Colin but won't want an import. sportifs2.gif

I'm sorry to disappoint but the anti-import stigma is something perpetuated by UK dealers. Every single Golf in every UK dealer is an import. There is not one difference between mine and theirs other than price and warranty duration. The saving is more than enough to compensate and also leave margin for a comfortable resale.

Ask yourself how VW or Audi can make a car for x Euro at the factory door, put it on a transporter to the main franchised dealer who then puts his mark up on it and sells it and yet the UK showroom price is 15% higher than the German price. Given cost of labour, dealer margins etc in both countries on a par, then the answer is VW (and Audi) UK are pocketing the difference. For what? VAG Germany's overheads are met from the sales of cars through German dealers. For every S3 that was sold by a UK dealer, Audi UK must have pocketed at least £3,000 over and above all their normal margins because that was the minimum difference in UK pricing.

The car market is very price sensitive. Yes, I had loads of calls, not one appeared bothered by the cars route from the factory to their drive and the R32 is now sold. When the buyer asked if it was an "import" it was merely a confirmation of his thought because UK dealers are unable to supply the R32 with any accuracy anyhow! He cancelled his order with Audi Gatwick today because of their failure to meet a promised delivery date.

At the height of the import boom, I know of at least one Audi UK dealer whose staff were buying imported TT's (not from me) with their own money, driving them for a short period and putting them on the forecourt as ex demonstrators for UK prices without telling customers the source of the cars. Talk about hypocrites!

you didn't mention it was an import

I assumed your post was a dig because you were against people that sold "imports". Sorry if I took it the wrong way, as you can guess I am very defensive about the topic because my business started purely as a result of me failing to understand what the UK premium was for.

I don't see any need to mention it in an ad because all R32's come off the same production line. Same way I didn't feel a need to say it had 4 wheels and tyres, a windscreen, pair of wipers etc. It's cheap and it's here because it wasn't sourced from a UK dealer, any other questions I have honestly answered and it has now found a home in Sussex.
