GTI Remap

thinking of getting my gti remapped before christmas but am a bit wary about corrupting the drive ! I already have a milltek catback so that gives me an extra 6 or 8bhp which brings me up to around 210bhp. Looking at the amd and revo remaps and both seem to increase power by about 50bhp, which would mean i would have 260bhp going thru the front wheels!!! As it is I find it hard to floor it in first without the TC coming into action, but having said that I would like a bit more grunt thru the gears. Any1 have any ideas on this ??

Top Gear took an upgraded GTA 3.6 Alfa 147 around their track. That was pushing around 260hp through it's front wheels i think. I remember them saying it would do very badly, but it suprised them all and did well!

Someone on here already has a GTI pushing 260bhp.... supposedly!

When he's taken his nose out of Max Power, i'm sure he'll have something to say!

It would be a beast, but a lotta fun!!!

260 shouldnt be a problem for the gti, will scrabble in 1st gear a bit if you floor it, but the guys at milltek and awsome say they handle the power very well. youll just have to go gently in 1st gear and apply the right foot slowly and not just floor it. im looking at the amd remap to take mine up to 272 bhp when ive got her run in. also am going to test drive the awsome one when i get my quads fitted. wanna try out their koni fsd shocks too.

Better invest in some uprated bushes / ARBs, etc as that kind of power will dramatically reduce the life of the stock ones (soft compund VW stuff designed for comfort as well as performance).

Should be fun tho!!!!

The GTI has one hell of a hard, but compliant ride especially on 18's (GTI's on 17's look impotent in my view, comfort or performance?). The GTI is not designed for comfort, it is designed for DRIVING satisfaction.

I've been out in the AmD Mk5 GTI and, as long as you don't floor it from a standing start (which you've said you don't do anyway), then I really don't think you'll have any problems. As long as you're fine using throttle control when you go around corners, rather than using the accelerator as an on/off button you'll have great fun.

Best thing to do is to go out in a Revo'd demonstrator and make your mind up. The problem is that once you have, you'll want to get it straight into the workshop...

Try to get across to AmD if you can as well, so you can compare the two remaps.

thanks mauve gecko, am booked in for the exhausts to be fitted next thursday. then am going to wait a while to get more of a feel for the car. then definatly AMD. went out in the rain last night her and you cant put your foot down too quickly in 1st or she squabbles like mad. throttle control is not much of a problem for me as im a bloke smile.gif have got used to using control in 1st gear applying gently at first and increasing as speed does.

was overtaking down some long b roads today and after flying past 2 cars looked at the taco 120 mph smile.gif quickly backed off as im supposed to be runnign her in.
