CraigR
Guys, having a problem getting my pc to recognise my phatnoise cradle. After installing the Music manager and connecting the cradle i am only getting the red light on(power) no green connection light and "no DMS connected"when i open the software. If i remove the cartridge then replace i get an error message saying "usb device not connected properly" and when checking the properties of the USB device it says no driver installed, have tried downloading this from Phatnoise.com with no success still the same message, i then have to uninstall and re-install the software before it will recognise it again. Anyone any ideas?????
johnss8
Bought mine from ebay and with it being an american one i had to mess about with the power supply plug to get the correct voltage since then no problems.
CraigR
That could be the problem then, will try that first thanks Were you having the same problems as i am finding???
NS1
Try pulling up the copper connector in the bottom of the cradle with some long nose pliers. When i first got my phatnoise i bought a new power supply as i couldn't get it to work, but then found out it was just the cartridge not being powered up as the connector was not touching it. johnss8
[/ QUOTE ] Were you having the same problems as i am finding??? Yes the red light was on but the software wouldn't recconise the cartridge, my plug/transformer came with 2 switches on it so i just played a bit, since then found that my laptop power lead fits and works perfect so now use that instead of 2 leads. Roswell
Mine also came from the USA this morning. Can someone tell me what voltage and polarity the transformer should be set at?
CraigR
Its on the transformer for you to check. Output 7.5v at 1Amp. Make sure its a positive polarity charger you have. Picked a multi voltage one up from maplins yesterday for £9.99 now all working perfectly Edit to add. Maplin part number if you are interested L82BF

resh28
[ QUOTE ] Thanks guys, just found this! http://www.phatnoise.com/kb/index.php?page=index_v2&id=105&c=9 [/ QUOTE ] The AC to DC adapter specifications are as follows: Find a "regulated" power supply; this means its voltage is always the same regardless of the load current. Transformers do not fall into this category. Output (7.5 - 12V DC), 1000mA The plug specifications are: 2.1 mm inner diameter, 5.0 mm outer diameter, 9mm sleeve, center positive i bought one from argos to try it out it was a 800ma cat no. 982/9471 £12.99(regulated power supply the important part!) and it worked no problem however it came with some extra adapters which was not needed i have got my money back and im buying another p/supply 1000ma from a hifi shop when i get a chance to go there. the phatbox is best thing i have bought fora very long time. any other question i will try t help... CraigR
Another quick question, are the vw and audi phatboxes the same? is the only difference the connection cable????
Scotty
As far as I am aware they are. I bought the VW as it was cheaper and works fine in my Audi. The manual and software all refer to it as the VW/Audi model.
