A car quandary!!

OK guys, here's a nice simple one for you. If you were offered £16K to purchase a company car, that had 4 doors, upto 1 year old, and averaged over 40MPG. What would you go for?

I've been having a look, and so far am looking at the following:

Seat Leon, both old and new

VW Golf

VW Passat

Skoda Octavia

Skoda Superb

I'm seriously looking at the Superb as a great option, as it would be possible to pick up the 130bhp car with very few miles, and most of the toys available today smile.gif

So c'mon guys, what's your thoughts/suggestions? 169144-ok.gif

I have no problem purchasing a Skoda at all. I think they've come on in leaps and bounds over the past few years, and their build quality is very good.

As for value, yup, you're not wrong.

Superb with Sat nav and all the toys? £16k

less than a year old with a 4 year warranty, and AA cover thrown in!!! Can't be bad smile.gif169144-ok.gif

Sounds like you may have found your answer then 169144-ok.gif

Still, can't hurt to see if anyone can find something else not mentioned yet smile.gif

What about the new Skoda Octavia RS. Its 17.5k new but you might be able to beat them down a bit.

You will get the new 2.0 T FSI engine and good economy and if past examples are anything to go by it will handle well and have some great kit.

Worth a look if the budget can be a little flexible or you can do a deal with the dealer.

I would give the 2.5 engines a miss, you'll get clobbered on the Benefit in Kind. Much better get the 130 1.9tdi, and a one-click type reversable tuning option IMHO.

Passats are good value for money, and if you get the right one you get toys.

Golfs are good fun, and you'd be surprised how well the 1.9Tdi pulls, especially when remapped, just as Bison. notworthy.gif

Right then Bump, I've got the motor for you. Its a June 04(does it qualify) A4 saloon 1.9TDI sport in Mauritius blue, it has armrest, chrome in and out and Kraft alloys. Best of all it is chipped, done by Glasgow Audi at delivery and nursed in to life. It's done 22k, feels like new and is barely run in. The car is mint condition and returns easy 650 miles to a tank (not sure about the tank capacity). Roughly 170bhp, pulls well from low revs any gear very pleasing to drive - remember I came from a 320bhp S4 - the economy is mega and the power is more than adequate! So without any bullshit it's ready to go at £17000 - no risk of clocking here, coz it ain't on the forecourt wink.gif

The car looks fantastic when clean - it's raining just now - will take photo and post shortly!

Anybody else is welcome too!!

Cheers!
