RobK
My front tyres need replacing rather urgently! It currently has Pilot Sport 225/40 ZR18 with 92Y extra load rating. I was wondering if the extra load version is definitely required or if the normal pilot sport would be ok? Not bothered about the cost because it's included in my maintenance plan, but the extra load version seems quite hard to find in stock anywhere. RobK
Rats, apparently the audi maintenance plan will only authorise Continentals or Pirellis. So, which one should I go for? They didn't say exactly which ones they were.
alanm73
I wouldnt go for Pirellis as my A3 TDI S-Line has Pirellis rosso's on and the grip from them is poor wet and dry. Cant wait till they are worn out so i can get Michelin Pliot Sports on it. So in that case id try the Continentals.

RobK
What a palaver! Turned up at National Tyres this morning, they rang VW finance & then put a set of Contis on. I get given a delivery note that says 225/40/18 88Y! When I query the 88Y rating the guy in charge goes off and gives the fitters a bollocking for not noticing the old ones were 92Y, then says I can drive on them until tomorrow when they'll get the proper ones in. What a waste of an hour!

Mollox
Will they then get resold as new though????
Simonl
[ QUOTE ] Will they then get resold as new though???? [/ QUOTE ] I think it's RobK's job to ensure they can't! Drive through some piant , some dog , a human , some chewy and some manure. That should just about ease the pain.
RobK
ROFL! He did comment as he looked at the front tyres "You drive this quite hard don't you?". I think it was the canvas showing through the sidewall that gave it away
alanm73
Let me know how you find the Contis compaired to the Pilots so i know which way to go when the god auful Rosso's are worn out.
