hi

I own a golf v5 and carry out the services myself but does anyone how to reset the service indicator or know where I can buy a tool. I was going to ask the dealer to reset it when it comes up but would of thought they would'nt be too keen as there not getting my money for the service costs.

From uk-mkivs.net:

With ignition switched off press and hold the trip reset button. Switch ignition on and release the reset button. Turn the knob to reset the minutes on the clock to the right and the display should return to normal.

No guarantee this will work as I've never tried it. Your alternative is to find someone in your area with a VAG-COM who is happy to do it for you.

Yes I would keep the service book up to date if the car was newer and worth more but it's 6 yrs old now and worth 10 bob and big nipper to the dealer. I had an rs4 serviced last year by a main dealer who put too much oil in it, replaced a brake light bulb wrong!! and put 50mls on the clock.Mmmmmm not much faith in dealers I'm afraid.
