chrisbas
hi I own a golf v5 and carry out the services myself but does anyone how to reset the service indicator or know where I can buy a tool. I was going to ask the dealer to reset it when it comes up but would of thought they would'nt be too keen as there not getting my money for the service costs. Mook
From uk-mkivs.net: With ignition switched off press and hold the trip reset button. Switch ignition on and release the reset button. Turn the knob to reset the minutes on the clock to the right and the display should return to normal. No guarantee this will work as I've never tried it. Your alternative is to find someone in your area with a VAG-COM who is happy to do it for you. asta
that method worked for me nice vw coming up with that. no need to buy a device or have to go to the dealer to do it for you.
pingpongpo
I'd personally be worried about the service records if I was buying the car from you not saying that you wouldn't service it but say you had if you know what I mean. I suppose the only thing that would ease my fears on it would be that you had dated receipts for all the parts etc with the logbook.
chrisbas
Yes I would keep the service book up to date if the car was newer and worth more but it's 6 yrs old now and worth 10 bob and big nipper to the dealer. I had an rs4 serviced last year by a main dealer who put too much oil in it, replaced a brake light bulb wrong!! and put 50mls on the clock.Mmmmmm not much faith in dealers I'm afraid. pingpongpo
Nor me. They do need a little bit of persuasion to get things done. Our lives have been ruined by all the people clogging up the dealer service networks with problems like, my ashtray is full and why doesn't any water come out of the jets anymore?
