corindm
I'm looking for upgrade the front speakers in a 2005 A3. Has anyone done this before? I'd appreciate the benefit of someones experience in terms of how the door panels are removed - don't want to break anything!
John32
Hi Can't help with the installation as had mine done rather than DIY. Can say that 6.5" fitted no problem - just need some spacers. John

John32
Hi Corin Most of the work was done by Linky , 90% happy with them - really depends on what fitter does the job

corindm
Its a ten minute job for someone with a crowbar. I've not found anyone in southampton that has done an A3.
Chillihead
Not a hard job at all, fitted new front and rear speakers to 99 3dr last weekend. Front doors easy. remove two screws from upper trim, one from door handle, remove plastic shroud, then two more screws. Lift door card and there you go. Rear a little scarey, however easiest I found was to pull mid way down the door jam and then pray and tug. Easy to get back on, just watch the window trim, gets stuck. corindm
Has anyone removed the front door trims of a 2003 -> A3??
corindm
ok, managed to get the door trims off thanks to some advice from users on here Next issue is the front speakers in a 2003-> A3 need a mounting collar to distance the speaker from the door. All the adaptors I can find online are for the 1996-> A3 which isn't deep enough. Can anyone suggest where I can get an adaptor for the new A3 or even a generic one for 13cm speakers? corindm
I lied....the front speakers are 16cm not 13!
