Honeymoon

The missus and I are getting hitched next June and can't decide where to go on honeymoon. We don't like spending hours on the beach / by the pool and prefer to be out seeing the sights, so the usual Maldives / Seychelles etc don't seem suitable for us. Can anyone come up with some suggestions for exotic yet interesting places to visit?

So far we're thinking about Langkawi, Singapore and Krabi (or maybe some other part of Thailand we didn't visit this year). Any other ideas?

(don't worry there'll be plenty of 123576-assfeck.gif too!)

Krabi is great - went there early this year. You may want to consider the Rayavadee Resort... great place and worth the extra cash. If you decide to go there PM me and i will send you the details of the guy we deal with at the resort as he is extremely helpful (esp with rates/upgrades).

We went to Hawaii for our Honeymoon and found it to be brilliant. Just the right mix of beaches, cites and out of the way places.

Plus you can pretent to be Magnum PI grin.gif

Lost is filmed on Ohau.

Son't forget wherever you go keep telling everyone it's your honeymoon, we got loads of upgrades doing that

I second that.

Hubby and I went to Hawaii too and it was great. We hired a car and went round most of the island and found some amazing quiet beaches. Waikiki beaches were way too packed.

We stopped over for a few days in San Francisco on the way, also highly recommended. Dinner at the 'Stinking Rose' (if you like Garlic that is) is a must if you go to San Fran.

We also got upgraded in all the hotels.

Hope that helps.. Congrats by the way 169144-ok.gif

Too much info Rob! Congrats to you both though!!

We used trailfinders who built a purpose built itenary for us, taking in Thailand,Hong Kong, and Australia for 4 glorious (and v. expensive smashfreakB.gif weeks). They put "Honeymooners" all over the booking references/special requirements, and we got upgraded to Business on two of our long haul flights 169144-ok.gifnotworthy.gif

  • 2 weeks later...

Yep got just the thing for you.

A cruise. Me and my other half (Currently) have a similar dilema. But the other week we saw a cruise that was perfect. We or I don't do beach holidays but do want to chill out a bit and this was perfect. The one below is about 17days but they can go up to 27 around that area. Plus the ship is I think about the 2nd or 3rd largest cruise ship afloat at the moment, a real palace from what I have heard. Anyway give it a look it might be just the ticket, with all those destinations it certainly won't be boring. 169144-ok.gif

Xingang (For Beijing)

Nagasaki, Japan

Shanghai, China

Okinawa, Japan

Taipei (Keelung), Taiwan

Hong Kong, China

Nha Trang, Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City (Vung Tau), Vietnam

Singapore

Bangkok (Laem Chabang), Thailand

Me and the missus went to Canada for our honeymoon. At the time is was seen as an unlikely choice but we loved it. I've been all over the place and the usual caribbean holiday didn't appeal to either of us. The other choice was Oz but that was too far away for the missus as she hates flying. 8 hours to Canada was bad enough smile.gif

Got to agree with S3 Floyd. I got married in August last year and went to Canada. Was in the same mind set of not wanting to sit by the beach etc (everyone does that in the summer anyhow). We flew into Vancover (best city in the world) where we went up to Grouse mountain and saw the bears, cycled round Stanley park, went up in the viewing Tower plus loads of other stuff, then in some order I should be can't remember- drove to Banff (awesome), Kewlona, Jasper (the most beautiful national park), Calgary, Delta Sun Peaks, Lake Louise. Everywhere we went the people were so nice (without being fake like some Americans- We got upgraded everywhere!) The food was amazing at every restaurant. The sights of natural beauty are out of this world. I have been a few times before and dragged the wife for the honeymoon. She is fairly well travelled as well and I was worried it might not like up to my hype for her. I need not have feared. If you didn't enjoy it then I would give you your money back! Also different seasons have different attractions. We tailor made our trip with flights first, then stuck with the same chain of hotels everywhere we went, pricey but hopefully its something you only do once!

Thanks very much we really like the idea of Canada. The better half wants to see Vancouver and I would like to see some of the natural beauty. We will be going in early April so possibility of skiing but we don't want to count on this as it is close to the end of the season.

It is a top city. There is so much to do. The other beautiful part is that with a good exchange rate most things out there (including hotels, car hire) work out a shade under half the price of England. Don't pack much and just buy a new wardrobe to celebrate! Good luck with the decision making.
