bah35uk
Is it just my car or is the siren on the alarm cack... I was jet washing it the other day and it set of the alarm off and it just made this beeping noise, not that loud at all, dont think it would wake me up if it was broken into, can it be changed to a different tone...? Chillihead
You are right. The siren is only rated @ 85Db, it is the standard fit. I had mine changed, this is a prob as the siren unit is housed under the rear bumper, this has to be romoved. Not worth it IMHO. Mine was a warranty job. h5djr
European Law limits the noise than can be made by a car alarm. Quite rightly in my oppinion. Nothing worse than noisy car alarms going off in the middle of the night. Nobody pays an attention to a car alarm other than to say "Oh another alarm been set off accidently". Most important part is the immobiliser - to stop the car being nicked.
d3fy
disagree, if my alarm was going off I would be up and at the window, if the car down the streets alarm was going off, then hay, thats his problem
Chillihead
Hmm, I do agree that the numbers of cars stolen at this level has dropped dramatically in recent years as a direct result of quality immobilsers, however feel that if an audible alarm is fitted, it should make a noise that can be heard from more than 15 feet. h5djr
Yes but when most alarms go off it's a false alarm. Drivers who forget to shut windows when the wind is blowing for example. I have known a situation where someone has gone alway on 2 weeks holiday and there alarm has gone off accidentally on the first day and continued for the full 2 weeks going off every few minutes..... Chillihead
Because, as I mentioned it was a warranty job. The siren no longer worked, I was given the choice of a standard one 85Db or a louder one. As there was no difference to me regarding price I opted for the louder one. Had the siren worked, I would not have had it changed.
