Brabus
Am going karting this afternoon with a group of colleagues from work and as you can imagine it will be very competitive. LINK to circuit 1 LINK to circuit 2 None of us know the circuit and I'd like to get some inside info that might give me the competitive edge... Any experienced/inexperienced karting fans on here that could offer some tips?
Riz
If you crash keep your body in the kart! Riz
Botang
Wear gloves to avoid blisters on your hands. Try to keep the kart from bogging down too much.
Luke
Wow that looks a great circuit. I've jusy looked through the web site and they are using 390cc karts, these are going to be pretty scary if you note raced a kart before. They will feel like rockets. This sounds really naff but at this time of year the tryes will be cool and so take it easy for a couple of laps to get a bit of heat into them. You will overtake more peole who have spun off than actually overtaking. If you are a total novice then aim to be accurate and neat rather than flat out going sideways as you will almost certainly spin a 390cc kart and loose loads of time. Build up slowly and get faster when you know the circuit more, new tracks take a little while to learn, not so much the layout but where to go flat and where to be slow because there isnt much grip. Best of all enjoy it though it will be totally knackering

bazza_g
That looks like a fecking ace track !! Remember smooth equals fast, sideways is slow !
Brabus
I was 2nd (out of 10) in the end from qualifying 4th on the grid. The winner (a very senior boss) was about 20 kgs lighter than me so no real chance of catching him Fantastic fun though!
NewNiceMrMe
That's very good for a first time outing. I finished last when I first did it - because I retired after 17 laps having torn something in my shoulder. On saying that, it's no excuse, because I was running 11th out of 18 at the time anyway! I remember the bloke who won our race well - he lapped everyone....twice. He was as thin as a rake and his driving was ultra smooth. Mine was too mind you. Well, until I spun off every other lap...
