Mook
From the Autocar web site: [ QUOTE ] Volkswagen’s focus on niche markets has led to this surprising new model – a four-door coupé along the lines of Mercedes-Benz’s controversial CLS. Although still at a very early stage of development, Wolfsburg insiders say this new car, described as a modern-day Corrado, already has the full support of chairman Bernd Pischetsrieder, who is keen to see Volkswagen project a more sporting image, as is clear by the recent re-creation of the Golf GTi as a proper driver’s car. Details remain sketchy, but Autocar understands Volkswagen’s secret new coupé has been designed to sit on the same basic platform as the Beduin – as well as the production version of the Concept C and the next Audi TT. Using a combination of components from the Golf and Passat, the coupé has been engineered with both front- and four-wheel drive compatibility. Power is set to come from a range of in-line four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines as well as VW’s new 280bhp 3.6-litre V6 petrol. A more powerful turbocharged version of the V6 with up to 350bhp is also envisaged. Unique exterior styling will be used to give the coupé added appeal, while conventionally-hinged doors (as opposed to the current trend for rear-hinged rear doors) are used all round to ensure development and engineering costs are kept in check. The four-door layout promises highly competitive levels of versatility, and with seating for four adults interior space should be at least as generous as in two-door coupé rivals. felixthecat1
[ QUOTE ] man, dat der is f'ug-leeee [/ QUOTE ] It does have a certain Germanic quality about it. Like an old East German 'female' shot putter, big and ugly.
s4dreamer
That's no Corrado. Thinking about it though, the images of the new TT bear a passing resemblence to a Corrado.

Mook
[ QUOTE ] That's no Corrado. [/ QUOTE ] Nope, but then VW have never said they would revive the Corrado. The press have picked up that VW have not made a coupe since the Corrado. The pic above is of the forthcoming Shooting Brake, which is more Passat size with 2 doors and a coupe shape to it. How many more models can VW invent?! I reckon they're trying to catch Mercedes...

[/ QUOTE ] Like you say, they're not alone in their quest for world domination. What I don't understand is that if we all drive 'Premium' brand cars then surely 'Premium' cars will no longer exist. . It's already happened to BMW.

Calm Chris
Pretty sure this is the same as the rmoured 'new scirroco'. Has a VW Concept C front end, 3.2 R engine and is a 2 door coupe due 2007. See: New Scirroco post, hopefully investigation is in progress as I write. Mook
[ QUOTE ] You mean the Eos, due for release June 2006 [/ QUOTE ] No. Different car. Eos is the coupe/cabrio due out in 2006. The Scirocco is a coupe only (for now anyway!) due in 2007.
