NICKBR32
Been looking on Milltek website about this exhaust has anyone got the hi flow cat and the silenced cat back system ? Is it a lot different to stock version (i.e better sounding and noticeable performance increase ?) If I fit this will it invalidate my warranty from VW (R32 ON A 53 PLATE)?? dogbucket
It should not effect the warranty on the rest of the car (has not for me anyway) The standard system was not covered anyway, appart from cats which you are replacing. There are people on here with high flow cats and resonated system so I will let them comment on sound, but all I know is the resonated Miltek is much better than stock to start with. and yes should get a heathly power increase
Mook
Welcome to Tyresmoke Nick The Milltek cat-back system on its own removes the boomy sound you get from the stock exhaust at 60mph in 6th gear. You will notice that the car breathes a lot more easily. Add the sports cats and you'll gain about 8bhp (just adding the cat back exhaust will give you around 10 to 15 bhp without a remap). You will notice that the car is a bit louder, but not excessively so. If you're going to add a Milltek, even if you've got the #6463 software update, you would really benefit from getting the car remapped as well. If you go for the AmD Stage 2 (ST2) - remap + cat-back Milltek - you should expect 270 bhp. If you go for Stage 2.5 (an unofficial stage, but is the same as ST2 above, plus the sports cats) you should expect 278 bhp. Both Helfinger and I used to run this setup before going to ST4 and the dyno results were almost exactly the same. You could also choose a REVO remap, although this has not been matched with the Milltek exhausts. As far as warranty is concerned, some people have got Millteks fitted (some with sports cats and some stock cats) and the opinion differs re the warranty depending on the dealer who works on your car. Check first with your dealer and get them to confirm it in writing for you that "fitting a Milltek exhaust and high-flow sports catalytic converters will not invalidate your warranty, Mr Customer" and you'll be fine. TBH, I was never worried about the warranty, as my local dealer tries to weadle out of doing any work under warranty until you make a fuss. Smudge
Hi Nick & welcome to the forum. Just to echo Mooks words really re the dealers. On my 3rd .:R32 the dealer swapped my zorst over for me, no questions, no concerns or anything. There really is little the zorst can do to feck you up afaik, so it should be ok. dogbucket
Only way to check for 6463 is either using VAG-COM software on a laptop with the special lead yourself, or get your dealer to check with their diag machine. If your car loses power when hot (eg after sitting in traffic), then you need the update. In my experience this was very noticable, to the piont of being undriveable sometimes. Mook
[ QUOTE ] How can I be sure if my car has the 6463 update (I have read a little on this site about it ) is there an easy way to check ??? [/ QUOTE ] In normal English then you can ask your dealer to check it next time your car is in. If you use a VW specialist, they will probably have VAG-COM, which is a software programme that is loaded onto a PC, normally a laptop, which lets you check and reset all kinds of information in the car's engine management system. Some people on TsN have VAG-COM in their laptops and take it to the regular meetings, so you may be able to get someone to check for you for free (or the cost of a drink!) at one of the meets. All the info you need about regular meets all over the counrty is here in the Meets and Trackdays section
