Hopsta
As the title says, any suggestions. Doesn't need to have recording on it so just a plain box G
NeilB
Sainsburys are doing a Philips one for about £40. M&S will be doing Freeview boxes at the end of this month. They will be Sagem units (from about £35 onwards) They are said to have a PVR unit in too (Hard disk, and two tuners) that will under cut Argos by £50. Best thing is that anything from M&S comes with a 2 year guarantee.
hotdog
Some can accept cards i.e top up TV etc, plus future subscription cards. May be a little more expensive but might future proof it a bit. We have a Thomson unit from Comet, £79 inc. 1st month of top up TV. Scart output and L and R stereo output. Not a bad unit
John32
Went with the Sony, not cheap but good, plus remotes interchange with TV, etc. Linky

Durrsaku
How strong does the signal need to be for the channels to be reasonably clear while using a freeview box? Are they as much aerial dependent as analogue?
Snail
check the freeview website www.freeview.co.uk to see what you reception is like in your area. We have a good aerial at home, and even though i shouldnt have reception, its pretty good. If your in a good area, an average aerial should do. Have you got anyone you can borrow a freeview box from? Milo
I have a Panasonic Freeview box in our bedroom that runs of a £4.99 portable TV aerial from Argos. The box was only £40 and it's never given us any problems. I didn't think our area was particularly good as we can't even get C5 on analogue.
