skifly Posted October 13, 2005 Report Share Posted October 13, 2005 Sorry all but i have to report i have had nothing but grief with them so far for what should really be fairly trivial - their attitude is absolutely apalling BUT there is a plus side at the end... Firstly the service guys attitude towards me has not been great since i went there (car purchased elsewhere) - i went in for the familiar steering grinding noise, rattling boot lid and the strip down the side peeling a little. First trip in they looked at car and tried to fix boot - got white stuff (from gloves aparrently) all over the leather in the front and back and also all over both doors. I also had to wait over an hour for a taxi that "would be 5 minutes" every time i asked. I ended up missing a meeting and then having to get the taxi to take me home after they wanted paying (should have been on stealers account as promised) and i didnt have enough cash. No mention of refunding this has been made and no apology forthcoming as yet. Just offhand attitude to me mentioning it to them. Then they called me yesterday to say my parts (steering rack and side strip) were in and they can be fitted - i questioned the steering part availability as i knew from here a modified part is on backorder at the factory - they assured me it was in. I raised these concerns again when i took the car to them later that day and they tried to do the usual "wouldnt believe everything you hear" and the "of course its a modified part - its for the GTI". Then finally i get a voicemail to say my car is ready to pick up - but the steering part is on backorder at the factory so they havent been able to do it yet!!!! Well i mentioned i was a little pissed off and explained what had happened but they just feigned a shocked look but just wondered off rather than offering any solution (well besides offering to valet the car - sorry but i have read the cleaning forum plus this is the cleanest car i have ever had - not letting them clean it!!). Called VW customer services and mentioned the cr@p offhand attutude the them as i though they sould know... BUT... while waiting for a bus outside i did get chatting to one of their service tech's (if he reads this he may remember me as we waited ages for the 208) - he actually seemed more upset/apologetic that i had my new car in with them for some work than any of the service guys!! Like that guy and if he wasnt a tech and probably good at his job i would suggest he runs the service dept!! So to sum it up... Service guys @ Bromley: The Tech i met at the bus stop: Feel bad being so negative about a dealership esp as they will fit the steering box - hope the service guys dont say anything to the nice techs that will make them abuse and take liberties with my pride and joy!!
