DeanW
At BCA Nottingham today, not a great picture I'm afraid but thought it was worth a mention. Who can guess which dealer group it belongs to Looks the business in black
garcon magnifique
Frank's own motor? One of 'em at least. He's got FS 1 (I think) for his nice car... (edit) Actually, Frank'd probably park it a bit better than that...

simonb
What's he doing at a place like that?? Surely he's 'above' car auctions now?! Unless as I_J says, he's sold off Sytner and is planning to start up as something else?
jimdiesel
Frank Sytner sold off his business to Roger Penske in early 2002 for $135M.
simonb
Wow! That is a large amount of £££!! Has he got something to do with Indy-car?? Name seems to ring a bell.
jimdiesel
Yup runs Penske Racing, in IRL, NASCAR and Grand Am. Also owns afew race circuits, Penske Oil, Detroit Diesel and the biggest group of car dealerships and car hire companys in the US. And now Sytner group in the UK. He's a real car guy as well as being an incredible business man.

Well i work for a construction company, but our MD/Chairman etc dont go out to site and lay bricks! Suppose all bosses/businessmen are different though! DeanW
Maybe it's different for builders then but any MD with an active role in the motor trade needs to get to auction to keep in touch with what cars/vans are worth - you'd be suprised at how many large garage owners go to auction on a regualar basis

v15ben
Yep if you go to a major auction the car park is often a mecca of top end cars and good fun to look around! There are regularly Ferraris, 996 Turbos and other stuff at BCA Brighouse!

I'm midlands based so I usually go to Measham, Nottingham, Coalville, Shepshed, Coventry etc. The main garage I buy for is Motorhouse 2000 (Cannock & Mansfield) plus a few smaller places

simonb
Oh right. So do they give you a big wad of money to spend then each week? Just interested i have set up my own vehicle brokerage website - still in initial stages - have been doing so for the last year but have sold around 20 cars to date. Not doing too badly IMHO. Hard work - plus i don't know the industry - just a big car fan trying to make a few quid! Check out my profile for my website if interested. Don't want to blatantly plug it!
