Oatz
Hi All, Firstly I would like to introduce myself. After owning Vee dubs for most of my driving life and having just sold my VR6 and (cough cough, Supra TT) I am now on the quest to buy an R32. I have just viewed a potential (right colour, spec etc) but just wanted opinions on whether its worth going for or not? The car in question is in all round good condition (it does have the fan issue though but obviously still under manu. warranty). Its a March 2003 model with 3 owners (one being a dealer) but in the two and half years of its life it has only been serviced the once and this was done in Feb of this year (at 27,000 miles! VW dealer) The car now reads 30k. What do you reckon is this v. dodgy and should be avoided at all costs or should I not be too phased by the servcing schedule having overrun by more than 7k miles?? (longlife sched.) Also the gear change is quite notchy (is this normal?). However the car is resonably priced compared to the rest of the market Many Thanks in advance as all feedback is greatly appreciated
Oatz
PS The reg plate is AV03 BJ* and its silver anybody recognise plate this by any chance??
dubzter
27,000 is way to high for a first service even on longlife servicing, I would be asking serious questions about that
R32North
Aye, mine was up at 15000 (3000 before the usual 18k). If you dirve like TP (Miss Daisy) you might get away with 20/21k, but 27k is too long!
hotdog
Sounds like its really been looked after - not! I would think twice, nay three times before touching this one. Unless they are prepared to give you a massive discount Where in the country are you?? And what spec are you after?? There is a particularly fine example for sale in Scotland, near Edinburgh I believe.

Oatz
Cheers for all the feedback (much appreciated) PS I was looking the boot for the white sticker and found that it read "177kw 4 motion" Is this the correct information for an R32?? Cheers once again!!
Smudge
If the car has missed it's variable servicing schedule it's warranty will be void. HTH, Al.
Oatz
Cheers for the heads up Smudge. The R in question did have a "used car service" the year before (ie 04 but did not incude an oil change, so i presume this is still one to avoid?????? R32North
Car could be perfectly Ok, but you shouldn't take a chance like that when you talking this kind of money!
Oatz
Exactly my sentiments just feel sorry for anyone not so clued up on the servicing side of things who may end up buying this only to regret it when it comes to the point of selling it on.... Smudge
As you have the reg, you could call VWCS on Tel: 0800 711811, give them the reg & they should be able to go through the documented history of the the for you, and also confirm it's warranty status. Oatz
Cheers smudge I did that yesterday and they confirmed that the warranty is still valid plus a claim was made after the date of the recorded service in Feb of this year.
