dubzter
thanks to foxy on uk-mkivs for this info. [ QUOTE ] AMD are now part owned by Milltek after the departure of one of the partners. Smudge
Bearing in mind Milltek are so heavily involved in the tuning market, I can only see this as a positive thing for AmD. As for the rest of the tuning market, it totally depends on Millteks approach I guess.
Scotty
Does that mean the price of exhausts will go down as there's one less party taking a slice? ....ok. I'll get my coat.....
crasher
It all seemed business as usual when I was there last wednesday. And they've even had change to do a spot of decorating !
Mook
The business operations of AmD have not changed. Scott, one of the original founders of the business, sold his share to another person who has been in the VW/Audi tuning industry for a long time. I am not sure about the Milltek ownership, but will try to find out. I have known about this for a few weeks now, but have been sworn to secrecy... The one thing that will hopefully come from the changes will be their waking up to customer service. I've never had a problem with AmD technically, but their ability to get back to you to tell you what's going on with your car, whether you're at their place or at home/work has always been below par. All in all, I see this as a very positive move
shao_khan
Knowing some of the new parties involved I think it will be a very positive move and benefit all parties and customers moving forward.
stevie_d
tbh, I really like Amd, I got on very well with them! Expensive, sure, but worth it

[/ QUOTE ] I hope so becuase their work is second to none but the customer serivce is awful - somehow they managed to 'lose' my original exhaust system and then refused to do anything about it - a big let down after a great first impression
Chrisg
[ QUOTE ] The business operations of AmD have not changed. Scott, one of the original founders of the business, [/ QUOTE ] Being very picky, Scott was not a founder. He bought in when Mike Devine wanted out - Mike and Geoff started the business, Nathan was hired as a school leaver (???) and the rest is history. Loved the setup at Oddington 'fraid not been to AmD for over 5 years except to get a 1.8t unchipped when it was going back to the dealer. Customer service /attitude not in the same league as other and more recent companies, no problems just didn't like some of the attitudes- sorry. Lets hope this now goes forward. So who are the partners now?

[/ QUOTE ] Agreed - remember Geoff chipping my Corrado for me (he was very pleased with the letter I sent in to a VW magazine some months later about AMD vs another chip) and Mike spent hours getting teh wheel alignment to 0 on all teh adjustments - never needed adjusting in almost 10 years of driving after that ! Went up to have the alignment checked on my R32 last year just after I bought it - couldn't see the car being worked on and just told everything was OK less impressive

crasher
Re: the customer service aspect, i cannot really fault them. I had a porsche brake upgrade fitted to my S8 in June. At the beginning of this month i started to get very bad wheel judder. Phoned up AmD and got the whole shebang replaced, under warranty without flinching. Whole process was smooth and painless. Mook
The fact that it was the beginning of the month is quite telling Crasher - that's when the new business partner came on board Did they replace everything - i.e. the disks, calipers and pads?
