CarMad
Am sure this will get move to the electronicy forum but anyway. I just read about a new 7th generation Sony LCD at the weekend which is about £1500 and is 32" Sony haven't been that hot up to now but it was meant to blow the rest of the sets away. Will look at the mag and let you know what it is later. It will be in WHSmiths still.
Sparky
Samsung make the best screens for image quality.
CarMad
Found it. Its a Sony KDL - V32A12U Just over £1500 from Empire Direct. Other than that I would have a look at the latest Samsungs as they look stunning, again 7th generation LCD panels and they seem to be the leaders in manufacturing them at the moment. I might get the 26" version of the Samsung for the bedroom and the Sony for the lounge. But I haven't got it approved from my Finance other half just yet. Edited to add its in What Video & Widescreen TV a 32"LCD test. Also comes free with What home cinema this month, if you want to read about it. CarMad
[ QUOTE ] Samsung make the best screens for image quality. [/ QUOTE ] Yep and they are quite cheap compared to some others. But a lot of people seem to ignore them as a choice.
Sparky
Looking in this month's What Hi*Fi Sound and vision, they don't rate the new Sony too well. I can't see many for £1300, but then the mag probably uses high street prices, rather than internet ones. I've copied the ratings out of the mag for you but ignore the pricing a little as I know some of these are cheaper. These screens below are also HD ready. 5 Stars --------------------------- Toshiba 32WL56 - £1200 (analogue only) Panasonic TX-32LXD500 - £1800 Loewe Concept L32 - £1800 4 stars --------------------------- Hitachi 32LD7200 - £1500 JVC LT-32DS6 - £2000 Sagem HD-L32 3 Stars --------------------------- Sony KDLV32A12U - £1800 LG 32LP1D - £1700

NunchukHamster
Where I used to live, my neighbour was a Sanyo sales guy. He'd been to one of the factories in Japan and apparently, at a point in the production line there was basically a fork - all the tv's to one side got Sanyo casings and software, all the tv's to the right were put in Sony casings and loaded with software. Otherwise, they were identical. But even better, both manufacturers often use Samsung screens!
rjgreen4
Bought a 32" Samsung, seems that the 40" is the choice for Microsoft and their new x-box and it is HD ready with inbuilt free view and digital. spec below. http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/content/products/details/index.asp?modelcode=SAM-LE32R41BDX any thoughts

rjgreen4
I am due to have a Samsung LE32R51BD delivered today and have taken a day off work to install it. The problem is that the LCD is going in a room measuring 5mx5m and the sky cable comes through the wall at the opposite end to where the LCD is being mounted. I therefore have a few questions based on the equipment I have; Equipment I have a standard sky box that has a sky aerial and phone line going into it, a Sony dvd player and a Sony Dav S888 amplifier/DVD(with 4 speakers and bass box). Questions 1) I am going to go to Maplins or somewhere similar to get the cable extensions but will look a fool trying to explain them - If I want to extend the Sky cable into the back of the SKY box I am assuming that I will need an adapter for the current plug then an extension to travel to the other side of the room and into the sky box - What is that cable called and the adapter to extend the current sky cable? 2) I think the LCD comes with x3 Scart sockets therefore I am pressuming that the DVD and Amp will just plug in the same as the TV, is that correct? 3) Is there anything else I need to get the screen operating? NunchukHamster
Maplins sell FT125 low loss satellite cable, which is what you want. Then you'll need a connector for either end, and a double ended connector to join the new & existing cables together.
